Do the heated mirrors not heat with remote start? They're supposed to always be on during drive ready state (not with the rear defroster like most other manufacturers). I wonder if it's because it's in precondition state and not drive ready? Regardless, it's pretty much an unsafe oversight if they don't turn on with remote start.

I'll check again, but pretty sure they don't come on with the remote start....which is awesome for Canadian winters...

I remember with a number of late first-generation Volvo XC60s I leased that had the remote start available through their app. I would be at work when it's 95 degrees and could start the car remotely without having to be near the car. It was great when it was hot AF or when it was snowing.

I'm still surprised that BMW took this long to integrate this into their programming.

Can anyone with 11/2019 installed on the car and running latest iOS ConnectedDrive app confirm there is an option to "Stop climatization"? I have it listed on the app as a "Disabled Service", but have no option in the car.

One of the worst features ever. Had this happen in my E70...Was working in my house during a snow storm. Keys in my pocket - somehow managed to engage the lock button long enough to roll down the windows...

I doubt that's what happened. First off it's the unlock button. But what I've noticed is you have to be close to the car and you have to keep holding the button the entire time

You owned an E70 and actually tried this? So all 4 windows and the sunroof spontaneously opened the same amount on their own? I’m interested to hear your explanation then...

The time I described in my prior post, I was working in my garage and the car was parked outside in the driveway. More than close enough. Working on an antique car, fob in my jeans pocket. Lean on something while reaching or wrenching and it’s easy to trigger.

Another time as I walked into my house carrying a heavy object against my hip that must have been against the key fob. One of my kids later asked if I meant to leave the car in the driveway with all the windows open. That time I only had to pick a few leaves out of the car.

The G05 has done this to me as well. From inside my house - but, instead of the windows, the trunk popped open, into my garage door. Minor damage to the trunk door’s paint. I was lucky to have entered the garage from the back yard door and notice it. It could have been way worse if I entered from the front using the garage door keypad...

You don’t have to be that close...

Lumpydog is right on this one. Happened to me a number of times and the worst was January here in Minnesota. Came out of a poker game around midnight and everything was open, just like him. Keys had been in my jeans pocket as I sat.

I’ve used the key fob leather cover to stop it since it happened so often. Now I make sure they keys are in a looser pocket or my coat.

Same story on my 2016 340i... I was working in the garage, accidentally opened all 4 windows and the sunroof... and in rolled a huge rainstorm.

About an hour later, two frantic 10-year olds knocked on my front door (screaming in French) pointing at my car..... which was absolutely DRENCHED inside. I actually had small puddles in my floormats.

Strangely enough.... everything still worked after I let it dry for a day. No issues whatsoever.

I actually had that window up/down function coded to my car.... it didn't come that way stock. I thought it was cool.

I don't think it's cool anymore.

However, in my g01/ g02 there is a setting where you can have the car automatically turn in the heated wheel / seats when the temperature is below a certain value that you can adjust.

I wonder if you can set this value and then have the remote store work on the x5. When the car turns on it notices that the temperature is below "x" value.

Just a thought. Someone try this please.
The G07 has this setting but have not tried it yet. Good idea though.

Yes, you can code auto-on heated wheel:

Steering wheel auto heat activation:

BDC_BODY3/7083 (on G05)
LHZ_CCM_IKF: aktiv
IKF_ENABLE: ikf_alle_sitze

HU_MGU/3E52 (on G05)
AKT_AUTO_LENKRADHEIZUNG: aktiv

For seat heat/cool auto activation:

HU_MGU/3E52 (on G05)
AKT_AUTO_SITZE_FOND: heizung_kuehlung (for rear seat heating and cooling)
AKT_AUTO_SITZE_FRONT: heizung_kuehlung (for front seat heating and cooling)

Use heizung for just heating

The press and hold lock to close all windows and unlock to open works only if you are within a few feet of the car. I wanted to close the rear windows today from inside the grocery store but it just wouldn't work. The car was in direct sight of me in a straight line.

Is this doable through BimmerCode? If yes then expert mode under what menu?

This seems to be an older iDrive version shown in the video but its likely the same menu options if the G05 has it.

I have the same question. Also does this just make it come up in the menu with heated seats or it just turns on all the time no matter temperature?

The seating can be adjust in the Climate Rules today in the G05. However, there is no option to turn on the Heated Steering Wheel. I'd be interested in knowing how to code the Wheel using the BimmerCode App.

Nope, not currently possible to code auto steering wheel heating in Bimmercode (iOS 3.4) — the BDC_BODY ECU is not yet supported by Bimmercode.

For the other question on steering wheel heating coding above: it is the full function: menu, ability to turn auto mode on/off, and temperature threshold, all independent of seat heating.

By the way, the auto seat heating/cooling coding above is independent of and much much more that the Climate Rules app. It allows both heating and cooling if you have those options on the car. It allows driver, front passenger, and rear control. Climate Rules only allows driver and only heating. In fact, the coded option interacts with Climate Rules and causes confusion — simple solution is to turn Climate Rules off after coding and just use the full set of new HVAC options.

Ah, ok, didn't know that as I don't have that option on my car. Still, the coding integrates with other HVAC settings and, frankly should have been done like that from the factory.

While above auto heat codings are cool (multiple puns intended), getting back on topic, I find the ultimate implemented UX nearly useless:

- no ability to turn steering, seat heat, defroster, etc. on during climatize/remote start is stupid

- and why are the temperature thresholds based on outside temperature rather than the inside? what does it matter how cold it is outside if inside is already warm; I know all systems do that, but that's just legacy stupidity, rather than good design and renders all the great hardware work almost useless with one stroke of UX stupidity
