BMW Canada moves at a glacial pace, but any chance someone can post the Canadian edition of the 2020 G05 config and pricing guides for us??

Original N63 had some problems.

N63TU and forward have been very reliable. I have 82,000 miles on my F15 50i and it runs like a champ with no issues.

A family member has a 2013 E70 X5 50i that was ordered and purchased new. The vehicle is now pushing 80,000 miles and has been extremely reliable for the past 6.5 years.

I have run 20's on both my E70 & F15 and lived in Iowa with no issues. Put on the Conti DWS year round and no issues over a combined 65K+ miles.

Just changed the order of my M50d to M50i with delivery in Feb 2020. This will be awesome! Black Sapphire exterior with extended shadow line option, fully blacked out and debadged, 747M wheels. This is my 3rd X5, but it is the first time I get one with a V8, so I guess this will bring out new emotional dimensions to it.

Congrats!

Nice to see a fellow "Muenchner" on here.

I spent almost the entire first 23 years of my life in that area, living in Holzkirchen (Landkreis Miesbach) and Feldkirchen-Westerham (Landkreis Rosenheim).

It is listed for MY20.

Edit: For the M50i it is not.

Amazing to me that the M50i will only be available in 5 colors- only 4 really as there are 2 whites! Why the paltry color selection? I don't think I've ever seen a model with so few choices.( not counting the overpriced individual) Really disappointing.

Beautiful places, but I guess life in Florida is not too bad either. I am not from Germany, but I've probably been here long enough (consumption of beer and weißwurst has reached the set threshold) to call myself a "Muenchner".

So what would you like to see? For me, a lighter gray is missing, like "Rhondonitsilber" (German Configurator, available as individual for M550i). Checking some other models I think you are right, the options are very limited right now.

Why are 20" 740M bad for pot holes? I thought they were normal sized tires compared to the low profile 21" and 22".

They should be fine as they have decent sized sidewall. I hit a pothole the other day driving through Indiana that sounded like my whole front end was gone. No damage to tire, wheel or anything else.

0-100 km/h for X5 M50i at 4.1 seconds is very cool. Could be even less in reality! Wow!

The 20s are still just 45 profile tires and 50 and below is what usually is referred to as low profile tires. The rather large width of 275mm up front does add some tire wall since the profile is percentage of the width but if you compare with some of the most durable and best real SUVs like the land cruiser and 4Runner you find that those come with 60 and 70 profile tires for a reason. The X5’s 45 profile tires are still to be considered fragile if you’re talking major and frequent potholes.

There are two reasons off-roaders want 70 series tires or taller (example 85 profile tires!). The first is that 15" or 16" rims are cheap and easy to come by. The second is that the taller profile gives you room to air down the tires when you need extra floatation (traction). Which makes "real off-road" SUV's with 50's or less seem ridiculous since there is no room to air down. Low profile tires and RFT tires really have little or nothing to gain by airing down.

While this is true 60 and 70 profile tires are nowhere near extreme off-road profiles. I grew up in an area with half a year of snow cover and I lived several years in Africa where tarmac was not that common. In both places my BMWs came with 60 to 70 profile tires standard and I would not have wanted anything less. Above 70 I agree that we reach off-road/air down territory but the X5 20s are 45 profiles and in another postal code and can’t be regarded tough SUV tires and they are to be considered rather fragile on bad roads.
