PDC with Braking Intervention
Can someone with a 2020 40i check their settings to see if they have the option to activate PDC with Braking Intervention? This feature is not available on the 2019s but scottjays has this feature available to him as shown in the pics he took. I'm trying to see if that is because he has a 2020 or if it is because he has an M50i. Thanks

From previous post, yes, my 2020 40i has the same options - 07/2019.53
It's (somewhat) more effective than I like too - I have just a few inches clearance on either side exiting my garage, and if you're going over 2 or 3-ish mph or better I would estimate, it will stop you cold. Used to it now, so I eeeease out of the garage, like parking the QEII, but I get plenty of visual and audible warnings. Last edited by Paladin1; 10-18-2019 at 12:01 AM.. |

The function appeared with the last update. And most importantly it works - e.g. when leaving the back of a parking lot. |

.55 here doesn't have it for the 2019s, fingers crossed it will appear for us like it did you.
I wonder if it is a difference in each countries regulations. Do you have extended traffic jam assist and auto lane change available to you? |

I have a 2020 4.0i on .55. I have the option and tried it this morning backing out of the garage. Brakes stopped me in the driveway when I got close to some of the shrubs/landscaping behind me in the driveway.

Thanks. Seems like the option is working well, hopefully we all have it available in the future.

I have read emergency braking on 07/2019.47 but very sensitive, won't let me reverse out of garage. Shame it is buried in the menus as it would be useful to activate once out of garage

I found if I go very slowly it will not activate. However when it does, a notification pops up. If you touch the notification or push up on the controller you will get an option to disable it momentarily. It reactivates itself when you take the vehicle out of reverse. As such I now leave it on all the time, despite it giving me the occasional heart attack when I reverse too quickly into my garage and activate it!

We (2019's) should all complain to BMW NA. This is safety feature which is advertise and instructed in our owner manual and we deserve to have it.

This is pathetic, hell my Chrysler minivan has auto reverse braking. I got my 87 year old Dad the '19 X5 thinking it would be fairly idiot proof to hit something. I guess I'm the idiot now. He'd be better off in just about any other car. Grrrrr.

Yup. I never thought about it until I hit a pole while backing out in a parking lot. $8,400 in damage. There is a separate thread I started about this. Titalled “weeks for repairs.”

Yep. Pisses me off this is missing. It could have saved me a lot of hassle last month. I backed into another car that decided to park me in while I was idling in an unlit driveway. Zero question - if this feature was enabled on my X5, I would have avoided a lot of unnecessary headache.
