Yes I think this feature is pretty common for other brands nowadays, too.

Does your vehicle make this sound when doing this?

It sounds like it's clicking into place after you go from sport mode into park - it moved the selector automatically back to the standard position, clicking into place. I don't see an issue here.

i guess i never tried it on M/S mode, haha.. sounds like its normal from comments above, punt intended

Your 428 does it too. Moving the lever to the left puts the transmission in Sport Mode. You can still let it shift automatically if you want, but can also select gears manually. Chosing this mode wakes up the car. Go try it and you will see. When you hit the stop button, the gear shift moves automatically back to the right position. The G05 X5 does the same thing.

Go try it and report back.

G01 X3 does the same thing.

The gear shifter is motorized in the G05, so switching to Park from Sport mode (shifter in the M/S position/pushed toward the driver) prompts the motor to activate for the shifter to return to its original position. This was previously non-motorized in prior model years, so the noise was much louder and more mechanical.
