4 miles on my 2020 in mid November. Special order that someone hadn't responded to. I've never had a new one with more than 5 that I can remember.

62 miles, picked up on Monday .... half of those were from my own test drives though. I once got an M3 new with close to 500 miles.

Have no idea why you'd think that after members have outlined what the cars go through for PCD delivery.

It's driven out of production line, then parked in a lot before it's delivered two weeks later. They still have to prep it just like any dealer then driven to PDC for detail then driven to a delivery bay.

With all that movement there's no way any vehicle will have zero miles on the odometer.

Because I assume PCD is next to the plant (given there is a tour of the plant if I'm not mistaken), and what exactly do they need to prep that puts miles on the car? I'd think it's very minimal. I don't know what outline you are talking about. Most PCD threads are about the experience itself and not what the car goes through . I also don't know why you find it so hard to believe people have a different idea than you

Oh no - the facility is huge. If you look at it on google maps, that actual PCD building with the track is across the street from the factory - the factory itself is huge.

The way the PCD described it to me is this - "Once the car is complete, it will move from covered storage at the factory, to an uncovered trucking facility, and finally to our climate controlled shop and storage areas here on site. We request vehicles to be shipped to us roughly 2 weeks prior to the delivery date. So it will remain at the plant under a covered area until then. Once we request shipment, it may sit uncovered for a week at most. However, our detail team will start their process shortly thereafter and pull it inside.

Judging by the size of the complex, I wouldn't be surprised if this adds at least 3 miles.

That makes sense, I guess I was just hoping to see a 0 on the odometer for the sake of "getting it from the factory".

I'm still very much looking forward to the PCD though, as soon as they can get a damn allocation for us... (ordered Dec 4th, still no production number).

Seems like yours is a bit higher though? There was someone who posted a screenshot showing 3 miles and it was also a PCD. Based on you guys' experiences, it seems like a few miles is reasonable.

500 miles on a "new" M car? There has to be more to that story...

TBH I'm not the type of person that's obsessing if it's zero or 15. If it was 25 or more then I'd question.

Also I know that it's more than others because my PCD was late by 2 weeks.

Zero miles expectation? Come on. That's not realistic.

Frankly, I wish the motors were broken in on the dyno like the Acura NSX. Take that issue off the table.

It's not really an expectation. Just thought it'd be cool. I wasn't saying "screw BMW, not giving me a 0 mile car".

Yea, agreed on the break in. For those of us doing PCD, it kinda sucks worrying about the engine not being properly broken in cuz we'll be cruising on highway most of the time so we can't vary the RPM as much.

I see. I guess 0 would be a unique element.

I would think a broken in motor for PCD or Euro delivery would be the way to go. You could get on the car full revs with no issue. Really enjoy the car's full capability without run in period limitations or parameters.

BMW might consider that as an option for buyers. It would be expensive I suspect. Either motor on dyno or car on a dynojet for a period of time equivalent to 1k-1500 mile break in. I would like motor on dyno.

They could then change oil and off you go.

M cars have a fluid exchange requirement before 1200 miles.
