It was announced about a month ago at one of the car shows. Can’t remember which. They said free worldwide. About time. They were the only manufacturer to charge for using your own device!!!! They have finally caught up with the times.

Actually I think BMW did it because of Audi. The newest gen of Audi's infotainment has wireless carplay now. BMW used to brag that they were the only ones with wireless carplay (and used it as one of the justification to charge for subscription).

I'm sure they figured out more than half of the owners wont use this feature, let alone pay an annual subscription!
OR this was their plan all along, announcing it to make buyers feel like they are getting free stuff after the purchase. |

OR way too much backlash from owners since it is free pretty much everywhere. When I travel I get rental cars from all different brands and it seems to be included with nearly all brands.

If you want to feel good...go log into your ConnectedDrive portal and see your end date...should be 2038 or 2039...emails are fine, but I want to see it in the car. Hope you guys who renewed are getting your money back without a hitch.

If you log in at ConnectedDrive’s website and scroll down a little you see subscribed services. Under there, you should see CarPlay and a subscribed until date. I don’t think you can see the subscribed to dates in the car anymore.

I did not receive any emails about this. Checked connected drive and this is what I see:
This service has been subscribed to your BMW until 02/16/2020. It can be extended once you are within 3 months of service expiration. |

Not saying you should, but if they give you a problem, file a BBB complaint. I just did it with another company and miraculously heard back and had my issue fixed within 3 days. I refuse to let these companies push me around!
