45e reliability? How about a poll?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com My question is: how many 45e owners have had problems that required returning their vehicles to the dealer for service other than scheduled maintenance? Please tell us your stories via reply. A poll would be even better, indicating MY and nature and number of repairs, but I don’t know how to design one that would give us a spreadsheet showing this information. Anyone want to try? If there’s a pattern of issues, then perhaps we can push for renumeration and/or better warranty coverage.

I had assumed that 45e would be more reliable.
Yes there are more components to hybrids but electric systems (motor, regen braking) lessens the burden of mechanical parts, which are much more prone to failure than electronics. Plus, my understanding is that the engine is detuned so it runs less harder than ICE version and I heard that the it also had some reinforcement to help with warming up process at cold start. But I guess I'm talking more about long term reliability than short one. Curious to see the poll! |

It also isn't anything like a random sample. People with problems are more likely to respond, a phenomenon only partially (how much?) countered by the reluctance of some purchasers to acknowledge problems for fear of "admitting a mistake."

Had my ‘22 for 6 weeks. Only issue is that driver side mirror doesn’t always adjust automatically when I turn it on. I haven’t taken it in to be fixed yet.
And the Spotify shuffle doesn’t always work, but I believe that’s a known issue. |

17K kilometers. Misaligned hood, AC compressor, condensor, valves, … replaced. And a few weeks ago a suddenly exploding rear windshield when closing the drivers door. And some other minor shit like loss of bass in the HK soundsystem.

As to OP's experience, I don't think there is one car/brand/model that doesn't have the occasional lemon or the occasional issue. The experience, while of course unfortunate, is purely anecdotal and the issue was covered by warranty as it should be. |

6 months. Only 1800 miles. No problems. My 2018 5 series had been back to the dealer 3 times by this point.
