I doubt the BMWNA legal department would agree with this product notion:

"If a BMW customer pays an upcharge for brakes, they can stop faster, but if they don't pay the upcharge, well, the vehicle is just less safe"

Hey moms, BMW recommends the more expensive brakes!

As a Mom, I guarantee many brands market things that way. A lot of "you want the best for your family" drivel. Plus, I would love to see that BMW commercial.

Ha, that's why I'm sure the product team would love it!

The lawyers ... not so much ...

Sorry, I don't have the desire to explain p-values to amateurs, especially when given amateurs have shown no interest in thinking. Yes, I realize that the above sentence makes it even less likely that you'll think, but alas I truly am really done with this thread. At the very least read a little about standard deviations and p-values, if you manage to understand the point I made, PM me.
If you are done and can't find anything anymore to prove your point just stop replying. And give in to the urge of having the last word.

And don't try to fool me by posting commercial flyers as scientific (your first post)

If you have the time, have a look how real articles are build up. Having a conclusion would be nice. Just showing data because you think it looks different doesn't mean anything.

Ok folks, time to stop mocking Noneya.

The data does indeed support the claim that for the Impala, BPI brake pads have a significantly shorter stopping distance than Fras-Le pads (at > 99.9% confidence).

Noneya : Thanks for running the numbers. You've made a point.

And before you waste your time trying to figure out how many standard deviations you need in difference for two series to be significantly different from each other: It's the difference expressed as a multiple of standard errors(!), not standard deviations that determines the significance level of said difference. Anyway, you might be better of with Welch's t-test for this comparison.

Good luck, let us know what you find

Ok fair enough. If it is correct, it is. Good job on the statistical analysis. You know your statistics too. But you have to admit that from a scientific point of view it is not correctly written.

And you are not the only one with an academic degree so the used words are not so fancy to us either.
