Park Distance Control vs. Active Park Distance Control
I just got a spec sheet on a 2021 X5 that has everything I want with the exception of the Parking Assistance Package. I noticed that the Parking Assistance Package has something called "Active Park Distance Control". The spec sheet for my potential buy has something called "Park Distance Control". Anyone know the difference?

Does the auto braking work at ultra low speeds?
Like pulling out of a garage with a kiddie bike in the vehicle pathway? Thanks in advance

yes, and if it detects an obstacle it'll brake hard. and if you keep trying to go in the direction of the obstacle, you have to apply considerable force to get the brake to dislodge. some would argue its too sensitive. but its there and it works to varying degrees of success

It helped me couple of times (and I have MY2019 so I don’t think it’s something new?).
It can be also annoying because it sees things that aren’t there. It is annoying especially when you want to park in busy parking lot and there are other drivers watching you “push” hard on breaks with no reason (you don’t do nothing, the car itself push hard on break). If you try to move forward a little bit and reverse again it will break again. The only way to park then is to totally change the “approach angle”. It’s helpful, but sometimes you look like a moron in a big car without a clue how to drive it. |

Mine works as long as you don’t touch / feather the brake i.e. it won’t work if your reversing and using the brake as a control, like you normally would of course. It has to be a completely driver brake free reverse manoeuvre and should something be there that you are not aware of, the car will (well should) brake. Think of it like active cruise control, brake and the system knows you’ve taken back control
