OK,

My understanding was we could precondition the truck remotely via the APP. I will use the term "precondition" instead of "remote start" b/c my understanding is the ICE is not used for this on the 45e.

That said, I have been able to connect to the car via the app to see the charge level and range of the battery. However - I can not get the app to communicate with the car to engage lights/horns/locks/GPS/precondition. My dealer is now telling me the car does not have remote start. I've called the Genius hotline, been on hold for cummulatively about 3+ hrs, and have all but given up on getting a live voice.

Can anyone offer some info/advice on what to do here?

It does not have remote engine start but is sure does have pre conditioning. I use it every day.

You should be able to activate it in the CD app. Depending on outside temperature it will cool or heat with the electric AC or heating system.

So independent on the ICE, remote engine start is not needed to do this it works with the HV battery.

I think there is something wrong with your CD app connection or setting. Did you activate the remote functions in your car?

I think I remember enabling those functions on IDrive in the vehicle...so, check the manual, and review that section, or just go into the IDrive menus and verify that remote control on the things you want are actually enabled.

Checked the data services on the idrive, its checked for all services.
Checked the remote services on the connected drive app, checked.
I'm just going to the dealer and will force them to take a look at it.

Try forcing an iDrive reset...I've not tried it, but from what I've read, just push the volume control in for about 30-seconds until you get the message, then wait. That might resolve things without a trip.

I just took delivery of a 2021 X5 xDrive45e. I have ConnectedDrive working and also the iPhone BMW digital key, but I can only see charge status, door and window and trunk status etc. but I have no buttons/controls in the iPhone app to lock, unlock, honk, let alone climate control.

Those that have this feature, is it an xDrive45e (PHEV) or another X5 variant that has it?

Could you post a screen shot of what you are seeing in the CD app?

You should be able pre condition with the 45e.

Just to be sure did you do the reset and activate the function in idrive?

What app are you using? My BMW app or Connected Drive app?

I've got a (2020) xDrive45e and got all the remote features for charging, climate control, horn, lock/unlock, light flash and remote3d.

I am using the ConnectedDrive iOS app. The My BMW app is not available in my country to my knowledge (I am in the US)

BTW, in the app under Vehicle tab > Info > Enabled Features, I see:
Send Destination to Vehicle
Check Door Lock Status
Check Battery Level
Check Electric Range
Check Fuel Level
Check Fuel Range
Check Total Range
Check Mileage
Transmission Mode: Continuous

All of these features are passive, none sound like “Remote Unlock” or something...

In the iDrive menu in the car, under Car > General Settings > Data Privacy I enabled every option, but none sound like “remote lock” or anything...

Some features may need to be enabled on the connected drive website. Have you logged onto that from your pc yet?

You should see a lot of more features in the cd app.

I wonder if this is because of model? This makes little sense. My car was produced in late September 2020, and supports BMW iPhone digital key. Not sure why it wouldn’t be coded to support all those other features... Do I talk to the dealer?

I just checked my own build production order: 6C3 ConnectedPackage Professional was a standard option N/C (no charge)

My build sheet has 6C4 Connected Package Pro as a N/C option listed on the build sheet. I have the Premium Package as opposed to Convenience, but I don't think that makes a difference. Any chance you have an older iDrive version?

I will check again and check with the dealer, but I doubt it. This isn’t a new feature, and my car was manufactured Sep 27 2020, hardly a long time ago...

It was mentioned above, but go to the Connected Drive website and log in. I have a check mark next to Remote Services active. I can uncheck it to seemingly disable Remote Services. See if you have that checkbox.
