My cornering lights now work . . .

Yes, mine was bought off the lot. It pretty much had everything I wanted plus it has the option credits too.

Just got a call from my SA, our X5 is ready! And guess what? The cornering lights are now functional after the IRAP session was completed! I'll confirm this later today when I pick it up.

The software was also upgraded to 03/2019.30 as I requested. So I'm hoping for a MUCH better iDrive experience from here on out. Maybe CarPlay will actually be usable now for my wife! They also confirmed that remote start is STILL working after the software update.

They also replaced the faulty grill shutters.

The one issue was that they were supposed to replace the passenger side front door lock surround (it was loose and corner was sticking out), but the new part that came in fit worse than the original part. They said it appeared to be bent/damaged.

So they ordered another one. I'll have to stop back in to get that replaced in a week or 2. SA said a 10 min job to pull the old and pop in the new.

Seems excessive. My dealer says they can do it in about 3 hours.

Unfortunately, I found that while the Carplay issues are fewer with the 03/2019.30 software, they still haven't gone away completely. Maybe with the promised upcoming major release. I bought a new iPhone XR, and the overheating problem seems to have gone away.

That's so weird. I have 11/2018.49 which is the original software delivered on my Dec build. And I have had NONE of those issues you listed. I don't use CarPlay so can't comment on that. But find it so strange the variations between different cars with the same software version. The only thing that I've had happen is in the last few days comfort access seems to be lazy.

So...got the X5 back. Happy to report the cornering lights DO come on when turning the wheel. However, they do NOT come on with the turn indicators or when in reverse. And based on other BMWs they should.

To the other people on here that now have functional cornering lights, do yours come on in reverse and with the turn indicators?

Corporate finally reached out to discuss the cornering lights. As of yesterday they sent software and a service bulletin to dealers on how to activate the cornering lights. Service bulletin is B630319. Reference that with your SA to get your lights activated. Only caveat is this can only be done with the laser lights, but I think we all knew that. I intend to bring mine in for service in a few weeks for a part that's on order and will have it done then.

Interesting! Came out 1 day too late for me. If someone can get their hands on the text of that bulletin that would be great! Id be interested to know if the fix is now something different than an IRAP session. Perhaps the new fix will also enable for turn indicators and reverse. I assume dealer could still apply the bulletin next time I’m in.

Thanks for this! My X5 is still in the shop for the acceleration vibration issue so I'll ask them to do this too.

Now for the dumb question.. what is an IRAP session?

It’s a remote connection to the car so BMW engineers can diagnose and make changes remotely.

My dealer is installing .35 today and believes it will activate the cornering lights. Thanks to this thread I will ask them about reverse and signal lights.

They definitely do but it's going to really suck for people to to be alongside one on the road when those cornering lights come on.

This is where my eyes align when I'm alongside my G05 in my car

Oh well, at least everything will work as it should
