M-sport brakes can't be ordered in combination with the standard 19" X5 45e wheels.
The configurator is changing the wheels to 18" + runflats

I was at the dealer today. They have both types 19 inch wheels with winter tires.

They just put mine back on today. I saw the ad saying that 19 inch are not suited for M sport brakes and asked them about it. The 19 inch wheels are not compatible with the M sport brakes on the 50i and 50d but the M brakes on the M pack is no problem so two types of brakes.

I had them on last winter and checked again now an it looks like they have enough clearance.

I have the dark silver ones (735) they are only 100 euro more, I think they look much better and they have Michelin tires.

I have the other 19" and they also fit fine. Although I think the darker ones that X5 45e posted look nicer

I tried the 19's and thought they fit too close to the caliper for my liking. I know the sort of damage a stone can do when it gets stuck between the caliper and the wheel (happened on my M4) so I opted against it. Went for 20's for a peace of mind instead.

The brakes are the same. No difference at all.

Do you have a 50i/d? Or maybe it is the X5M that has bigger braker calipers.

Ninefourteener put the bigger kind of brakes on his 50i so I guess the bigger ones are not standard on de the 50i.

I wonder what the bigger brakes are called. M sport brakes and the other ones M brakes?

I have the 45e with M package and towing package which supposedly has larger brakes than M package alone?

Can anyone confirm if 19inch aftermarket wheels will fit for winter? I won't be buying bmw wheels so need to be careful with offset and spoke design to clear the calipers too.

Thanks

All I can say is that I have a 45e with blue M brakes and a hitch in Europe. I have BMW 19 inch winter wheels and it works.

Picked up the 45e with M sports brakes and 735 19'' winter wheels today (Toronto, Canada). I tried to quantify the gap with my passport, flipped through pages until just a snug sliding fit. Measures about 3.1mm

On the same decision point in Toronto.
Maybe an interesting finding?

BMW update their intro for the 19 inch setting. Please see below. The left is the "outdate" one, and the right is the latest one my dealer shows me:

As you can notice, in the latest one, they removed the "or M sport package".

So I guess it is safe for 19 inch with M package?

How are your experiences with the 19"?
Are the calipers not too close to the rims?

I get a bad feeling when I see those pictures here and want to choose 20" wheels....

I want to put 19" for winter, but I have some doubt that it can fit.
Is it possible that there's different brake size?
My 2019 X5 xdrive40i have the M sport package + towing package and it originally came with 22".
I now have 20" (OEM) on it and I can't fit a finger between the wheel and the caliper.
19" mean it is half an inch closer to the calipers, how can it fit??

BMW have 345 375 395mm rotors and M caliper.

Thanks so much
