The 302 more than the GT500, but the GT500 is still no slouch in the turns.

And I saw you are going for the 2013, I got to see it at the Shelby factory here in Vegas. An amazing car to say the least!!

Yea, I was holding out for another GT-R- but the price point of the GT500 was just too good.

Those things are insane for the money - have fun with the live rear axle, but it is an american muscle car and the live axle is some of the pain and some of the fun!

Looks sweet!

I'm sure the guy rocking a BMW M6 or 650i Or 740 will tell you downgrading his car to a Ford fusion or focus is NOT something he wants to do.. and yea, the ford GT is a supercar, that is the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

Just because a mustang is "faster" does not make it better, just like a BMW's badging doesn't make it better. "Better" is a realative answer....

...like I stated before, it totalled depends what you are using the car for. a Lambo is "better" around a track, but a toyota camery is a "better" daily driver.

I will never own a mustang, I don't car it if laps a M3 on a 1/4 mile... I am not a mustang hater, but once again I don't think you can even compare these 2 car companies and they make COMPLETELY DIFFERENT cars with different intentions.

No one is saying a mustany can't "handle good" but on the whole, the BMW will smoke the handling on any ford (perhaps minus the GT, but that is supercar, and not the rule) for the most part.

I also don't think people are buying BMWs for the "speed" or 1/4 mile times... Unlike the mustang, where you see 1000 of them a day (half with 4-bangers) and most of them being bought because they are consider by most, a "fast" car.

Once again, comparing the 335i and mustang doesn't really make any sense in terms of direct comparison -

i dont consider these cars even close to competing in the same class - the 3 series, a lexus is250, MB, G35, and a Mustang? yea, I don't think so.

But in performance aspect comparison, the BMW is not better. Yet people are talking like it is. The Mustang is no longer made for straight line speed.
I do agree it is an OVERALL downgrade for a car that will be driven everyday. But it is not a complete downgrade like people make it out to be.

(and this is coming from a guy who use to HATE mustangs. But now I have to give them the credit they are due.)

+1. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation based on very old info. To say the Mustang is only good in a straight line comes from either old info or driver error. I run in the advanced groups when I track and there are 2 guys that consistantly track with me (on road courses...not the dragstrip). The new Mustangs are VERY capable cars and will easily hold their own on anything 99% of todays drivers will throw at it.

IMHO we're pretty fortunate as consumers of automobiles these days; the quality being produced these days seems to be at levels we've never seen in our lifetimes.

I get what you're saying, but you're still wrong. The 302 destroys ANY BMW including the CSL and closely trails the GT-R at Nurburgring, Willow, and basically any track. The regular Mustang GT is only 1. something seconds behind the M3 at many tracks and bests the M3 at "power tracks". I'm unsure about the gt500, but I don't see it being faster than a regular GT. I'm not understanding where you get your information from here.

In addition- you made the blanket statement about the BMW to Ford thing, no need to bring up the Focus and 6 or 7 series.

not a fan of Mustang at all, but to say it has shitty performance is just stupid. just shows how little car "enthusiasts" know in here

We have a lot of brand whores in here. You should see how Porsche, M3, and (you name it) guys talk about the GT-R. It's embarrasing to read. Track days are beautiful, passing "purpose built cars" in the GT-R I drove 150 miles to the track with street tires is priceless.

However- the GT500 hasn't really shown the advantage of having all that power. Yet.

No doubt. A friend of mine drives one and it's just ridiculous on the track.

These are stock cars- the Mustang is very easily moddable. Note, the Mustang GT out accelerates, out grips, out brakes the M3 in stock form.

I am envious my friend. I want a 65 or 66 GT-350 so badly. I don't care what shape I found it in, I'd buy it and do the rotisserie tango. Nice on ya.

Nice, congrats! Hard for some to believe that a Mustang can hang with the Germans now (no your JB4 won't help you)

1 thing the BMW holds over the Ford is when you're going 100+ in the BMW it's smooth...

Doesn't being a car "enthusiast" mean appreciating each car for its own unique abilities/charm?

Congrats on your car OP. Sat in a GT500 once and the power is insane.
