2019 G05 X5 40i M Sport Design M Perf Exhaust??
with my 2016 F15 X5 I installed the M Perf exhaust and M Perf Power kit for small bump in hp. Does anyone know if the G05 40i with M Sport Design includes the M Perf exhaust? I am debating the G01 X3 in the M40i config and I know that included the M Perf exhaust which sounds amazing. I'd like the larger G05 X5 with the M Perf exhaust mainly because the heavier GVWR allows for considerable tax deductions for my business. But I gotta have that sweet exhaust

In Canada build sheet I see msport exhaust system as part of Msport package. I assume those are 2 different types of exhausts?

I checked the build sheet... and it seems the 40i does not have M Perf exhaust but the 50i does. gulp

You could certainly add it later I'm sure! Will just cost $2k+ if I had to guess.

Looking at ordering guide, the G05 has an M sport exhaust available on some models (not 40i in US). However, it isn't listed as M Performance exhaust. I know the exhaust resonator is different with M performance. I suspect there's a reason BMW is calling it M sport for G05. I would assume the M sport is cosmetic only, unless you get confirmation otherwise.

The presenter indicates that this is the first time that this "sound" is available in a BMW SUV..
As someone has pointed out all indications are that Msport Exhaust = ASD/fake exhaust sound through cabin speakers. I dare say a bit misleading that the sound is heard in this video during an exterior shot and not within the cabin. I've driven a tester with Msport exhaust and it sounds amazing inside - I just wish it was real! |

I testdrove one 2 weeks ago. After a spirited drive and stepping outside to the back, I asked someone to rev it. It sounded amazing! On the inside when I put into sportmode and punched it, you can hear the exhaust and I loved it.. But in reality, isn't the cabin suppose to drown outside noise? My rep said it doesn't come from speakers. But regardless, it sounded great from the outside. If it sounded great from the outside then who cares where the sound comes from the inside...even if it is the speakers.

News from BMW
"Tom, 1. You are correct, it is not available in the 40i but in general its a BETTER SOUNDING system (M Sport Exhaust). It doesn't necessarily improve performance. 2. The M Sport Exhaust is completely aesthetic and has NO mechanical control for the driver. That being said, the system does improve the growl in the SPORT and SPORT+ modes. 3. All BMWs have some level of sound piped into the cabin through the speakers. It's purely a design feature, however, its so subtle and acute on the X5 that you may not even notice it. " |

Ad 2. Ok, there is no mechanical control for the driver, but as i understand it is changing itself (flap in the exhaust, etc.) by choosing different profile (Comfort, Sport, Sport +). |
