I'm picking up my 40i M sport tomorrow. It has the M sport exhaust so I'll take a video this weekend and post it.

Please check also if open valves are only on "S" mode or if you can also open it in any individual settings, like you have everything on "Comfort" but exhaust on 'Dynamic" or smth

Do we know if the G05 has BMW Active Sound Design (ASD)? There are a few video reviews online that suggest the engine/exhaust sounds heard in the vehicle are speaker based..

Yes you can code it off. The sound dampening is so strong that you can't hear those sounds while driving so they have to play it through speakers.
One reason to keep it on is in cars that are stick shift so you can hear the revs so you can tell when to shift. And in the winter in cold places you don't have to keep the windows down to hear the revs.

Sorry for the wait... Not tech savvy at all and had a hell of a time figuring out how to upload to here!

No individual settings for the exhaust that I've found yet; just the engine, tranny, steering, dampers can be set to Sport or Sport Plus Mode. Regardless, it was configured to Sport Plus mode in this video just in case the engine setting controls the exhaust as well. May not be completely a 'cold start', but it had been sitting for a couple hours before I took this video.

dont know if it just me, but i can barely hear your exhaust. sound is terrible on this video

I was at dealership other day and on cold start-up it did sound like that but no different than my f15 35i with mppk. The driver had car idling for about 10 min and it was quiet. But it’s the driving sound everyone is curious to know about.

Was it with open valves? Like sport or sport+ ? or comfort ?

I’m afraid Msport = interior cabin
(ASD) speaker sound. I can find no evidence that there is a physical difference to the exhaust with Msport.

In Belgium m-sport exhaust for the 40i is a separate 500$ option on top of the M-Sport pack. Will make a clip When he arrives but have to wait till februari 😅

I dont want a digital sound in the cabin. I want the performance and raw sound when I get on the gas!

It's not only speaker sound - there have to be movable elements in the exhaust as it is in m performance exhaust:

From what I have been told, depending on the settings (Sport plus, Sport, Comfort, etc.), the flip-flops in the exhaust set up in a different way. It would be great if somobody could confirm this.

We should remember that this is X5 not M2 and the settings of exhaust (even M sports) can not be too radical.
