Fuel grade on Exhaust sound

hi bimmers, just another question on fuel.

I am wondering if the quality or grade of a fuel affects the exhaust sound?

I have heard that some brand's fuel produce more pops and crakles sounds?

Anyone had the experience where one brands fuel of certain grade just make the exhaust sounds better? If so, is there any recommendations?

my vehicle is a 21 x6 m50i

If you but low grade fuel from a station with bad tanks and you get water in your tank you will get a lot of pops and crackles. other than that Nope. I actually had an article from BMW on different fuel grades and how in todays computer controlled systems it knows what you are burning and adjust timing and performance accordingly.

The timing will change if you start to try lower octane fuel. It may produce extra power if your octane was higher than the recommended, but I don't know how much adjustability there is in the software/hardware combination. The timing could change the exhaust sound, as the valves would be open earlier or later in the combustion process.
