It's been one week today since we took delivery of our 25 40i. We are absolutely in love with this car. From the tech, the ride and handling. To the seats and interior comfort. It just does everything that we wanted from it. There just isn't much out there that can compete with the quality and refinement the X5 offers. At least for us.

-The power. We have a 15 X5 35i and the new one is on another level on how it delivers the power. I love how when you put it in gear when your standing outside and it makes this cool like sound. Maybe from the mild hybrid? Just can't beat the B58. We did test drive a Lexus 500H F sport and rated around 360 HP it's not even in the same league with refinement and power.

-Suspension. We went with the 22s and adaptive suspension. No air.
We think it rides absolutely fine and putting it in sport suspension it handles great for a big SAV. Going over the routine terrain and curves around our area it's a huge change from the 15 X5. This thing just eats up miles.

-Interior. We specd the Ivory merino leather after some back and forth on cleaning etc of it. So happy we went with it. I already applied Colourlock to it and so far it's been flawless as far as dye transfer etc. If your a leather person the smell of quality leather every time you open the door is worth it just for that alone lol. We opted against the ventilation and massage features after researching and sitting in seats with them. We wanted the most comfortable seat and my wife is always cold anyways so the ventilation isn't a huge priority for her. As soon as we sat in them we instantly new we made the right choice. They are so comfy and a lot better than the F15 seats. Also as a bonus for going without the massage and vents that the whole seat is merino. We really like the dash material as well. It's not the leather dash but it looks high quality and fits the bill. The build quality is amazing and it just feels upscale in the cabin overall. All of this is subjective of course.

We also got the sky lounge roof and at night with all the ambient on we just sit in it and listen to music lol. It's like a disco room.

-Tech. Were still learning all the features and icons etc in the idrive 8.5. But as we work through it, becomes easier each day to live with. The interface is fast and intuitive and the voice recognition system works well for us. The screens are really clear and graphics excellent.
I think after getting most of your settings set, you really don't have to mess with the apps and fumble through the screens much. Setting the 8 most used apps in the hot button screen makes things easier to find. The climate controls aren't too bad even though I'd still prefer buttons for a lot of the stuff. Definitely not the end of the world though and we like it quite a bit actually.

-Dislikes. Obviously there is no perfect car. I don't like not having comfort access on the rear doors. We have the key set up to lock and unlock as we approach and leave but still miss it. Also the auto lock and unlock is kind of annoying as every time you walk by the car or leave it, when you have the key in the garage or whatever.

Not being able to have the heated seats on without climate control on is odd as well.

Not sure if I like the LCI changes to the front or not. The big ole black plastic part under the grill is gonna get nasty over time.

Also wish I could remove the speed limit icon that's on the HUD and and instrument cluster as it's not correct all the time anyway. I have yet to figure out how to remove it and trying everything. I did figure out how to get it to stop flashing though.

The biggest complaint is the start stop system. We both despise it lol. It's either sport mode or traction control off every time we start it up. Over time this just can't be that good for the engine. Just my opinion though.

-So after that long winded review we are just stoked about this car. Haven't put to many miles on it yet as had the windows tinted and I did ceramic coating myself which took a couple days for prep and all to complete. It definitely has the storm trooper look and the ceramic coating made it look like glass. We may do PPF on the front but debating cost and investment of that. I will attach some pics below. Thanks for reading!

Lovely car. I especially like the interior - my absolute favorite color. Enjoy!

As for the auto-start-stop... I was afraid I'd hate it and even more the fact you can't switch it off. In all my previous cars which had a-s-s (2 BMWs, and a Volvo), you could switch it off - either directly with a button (1 BMW) or with a simple trick (2nd BMW and the Volvo). No such possibility here, in my new X5

HOWEVER, having had the car for 2 days, I must admit, I couldn't care less about the a-s-s being active or not. It's amazingly seamless - to the point I in fact appreciate the fact there's some smart tech on the car which decides when to kill the engine and stop burning fuel for nothing. Crazy how one's attitude changes once the technology reaches maturity required to make certain "advances" no longer painful, and actually useful / not intrusive

For contrast, I remember the a-s-s on my F10 5-series... oh man, every time the engine went on/off, the whole car shuddered and I despised the experience with every fibre of my body. Good thing there was this button next to the engine starter to kill the damned thing. On the second BMW (a G11 7-series), the tech was MUCH better, but nothing close to what the LCI G05 offers

Anyway, back to your car - I think it looks very good with he contrasting black/white bits. And I congratulate you on the suspension choice!

Thank you so much for the kind words. I get what your saying on the start/stop. Maybe in time we will get used to it and give it it's due chance.

Yes. The color choice white on white with the black just pop. Sometimes you just don't know till you see it in person. We were glad it was everything we hoped it'd be. We just felt on the suspension it was the best for us. The air was a little floaty for us and the standard with adaptive was a little more buttoned down.

That's exactly how I felt.

After reading the posts here I was worried that the ASS will bother me, but after some test drives I didn't even feel it at all. Amazingly seamless, indeed.

When you option the ivory merino thats how it comes. I don't believe any other color does that except the ivory. It really brightens the interior.

I have that option as well with tartufo interior

Really wanted the ivory, but it’s not possible with the seats I chose (and preference for seats was >>> than for the leather color, so I settled for tartufo)

Tartufo in that seat style is smoke!! So nice man. Looks so upscale and sporty. Wish we could get those seat style here in the states on lesser models.

We’ve all pretty much said it but I’ll chime in and say it too, zero reason for them not to offer that seat style here in the US. Would have absolutely opted for those seats. Pretty much the same seats that are in the X5M just without the ///M logo lighting up.

I wonder if they know that it would be another hit to the X5M as far as sales? Quite a few threads on X5M vs 60i. You offer these seats as well on the 60i for a decent price and it's another box ticked against buying the full M?

It’s possible but I really feel as though it wouldn’t cause too much sway one way or the other. There is a $30k difference between the two so I feel like you are either going to make the jump to the X5M or you aren’t.

Lol. It can be scary at times. Love 22s on these x5s. Our other x5 has after market 22s for over 5 years and no issues. Granted those are just for 6 months out of year and have the originals for winter months. At a minimum we'll need different tires for the new car come colder months.

So you’re planning on running winter tires I guess. I haven’t heard great things about the oem run flats in winter and I’m debating if I should plan on winters or not.

Which ones are you planning on getting?

So on the f15 x5 we have we run the all season run flat Pirellis in winter and there perfectly fine. The 22s that came with the G05 are dedicated summers. So we also got a spare included in the package. I won't go run flats on it. I'll just do a decent all season in the 22s or buy an aftermarket wheel and all season tire. Our winters haven't been bad in years where we're at so winters to us are just overkill.

Edit. I just noticed your from Michigan as well lol. Sorry I missed that one.

Yeah even with 21" I slow down every sharp bump. I'm not sure if suspension is any different from pre LCI but they produce a significant number of 22" without air.

Looks absolutely gorgeous!! The white & black contrast looks great. Love that ivory interior too, my favorite. What % tints did you get? I’m hoping to get mine done this week and was thinking about 15% yours look similar or darker maybe. Enjoy the new ride in good health!

Thank you for the kind words. This car is amazing and it just gets better everytime we drive it. It's just perfect!

We went 15% ceramic tint on the front windows. The factory tint that comes on the back windows is 17% so it's only 2% darker. But with the white interior it's perfect. As it doesn't make it feel as dark. We usually go 20% but decided to go 15% this time and no regrets. If I had a black interior I might have done 20%. Hope that helps.
