Following for updates. I was stubborn and didn’t want to pay the small cost to option it on our M50i, but if it can be retrofit easily then I’d probably do it!

Not sure if my US experience is applicable, but...
I've got the BHS TPMS 433 MHz sensors installed at the local Discount Tire store on my winter wheels/tires set. They also had Schrader sensors available, which as I was told are equally good. I've got them discounted for $45 each, installed. Another big tire/wheels US store - Tire Rack - also sells and installs BHS TPMS - even cheaper than DT does. https://www.discounttire.com/buy-acc...sensor/p/80964 https://www.tirerack.com/tpms/detail...!&gclsrc=aw.ds As I understand it: The DT tech simply scanned my X5 OE set's sensors with the Autel TPMS device and applied same programming to these new universal sensors. The X5 did recognize new set after ~2-3 minutes of driving and I was able to save winter tires settings to the X5. If I'd be going through the dealer - I'd end up paying $600+ as they would get OE TPMS installed and program new IDs to the vehicle as a separate set. Cheers! |
