40i M Performance Exhaust sounds

Finally had a chance to strap some GoPros onto my new X5 40i with the M Performance Exhaust installed. Inside videos taken from as close to where your head will be as possible. Outside videos taken from bottom center of the rear window looking straight down (sorry, didn't feel like taking the bike rack off for these. LOL). Inside/outside videos are the same stretch of road in each.

Cold startup from inside.

Cold startup from outside.

Comfort mode acceleration/driving inside.

Comfort mode outside.

Sport mode acceleration/driving inside.

Sport mode outside.

Hope those help in some way! Oh, and I almost forgot... in my opinion, this sounds amazing and I totally love it.

Interesting because I thought that was included in the upgrade when you purchased the MPPSK package. Price wise, half of the cost was for the actual exhaust and the other half was for the tune for more psi on the turbo

I didn't buy the MPPSK package. I bought the exhaust ($2850 shipped) and had it installed by the dealer ($375) before I took delivery of the car. Didn't even know there was an MPPSK package until recently.

How did u get this "magical" number ($2850)? The retail price is like $34xx. :

Super friendly and easy to work with. Sorry, I was off by $40.

So if I buy the one part from 3rd party vender and get them install by BMW service, will they honor the warranty or will it void the warranty ? Sorry I'm new to this and just want to know.

You are buying original BMW parts and having a BMW dealer install them. So, no worries. But read this also: https://www.bmwpartspros.com/policie...and-conditions

so during my build, i didn't see any option for M performance exhaust when i selected the M Sport Package. Does the M Sport package include it or is it only aftermarket? I have the M exhaust on my F82 M4 and I am wondering if it will be too much for the X5, but it does sound great.

There is no "factory" option for the MPE. You have to buy the parts over the counter and then have it installed (or do it yourself). I just timed it so I received that parts and brought them to the dealer so they could install it before I took delivery of my X5. Personally, I find it suits the car very well, but I'm also used to loud racecars so my scale might be different than yours.

Is there a BMW exhaust option for the M50i?

I've done some digging around...and (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the M-Performance Exhaust (available in various websites for $2750 or so) is the exhaust that is on the X5M (not the X5 M50i). I know that with previous exhaust upgrades I've had (Dinan 540, Audi AWE), there was a slight performance boost with the new exhaust...
Does anyone know if there is any sort of HP/Torque boost w/the M-Performance Exhaust?

Well, it shouldn't be that hard to compare part numbers. Here's what I ordered:
18-30-2-458-780 - BMW M PERFORMANCE EXHAUST SYSTEM - 40i ENGINE
18-30-9-909-376 - Hex bolt
18-30-7-935-435 - Exhaust system holder
18-30-8-631-988 - Rubber mount

And if it helps, here's what came in the box. Maybe you can do a visual comparison to an X5M exhaust.

As far as additional power from the exhaust, while it's possible, since I had it installed prior to taking delivery I can't really say if there is or isn't. And, without putting it on a dyno, it would all be conjecture anyway.

Does the muffler have any m performance logo on it ? Just curious because that's how you differentiate the difference between stock and m exhaust right ?

Sorry, I just use your pic.

I just crawled under the car and I do not see the M Performance logo on the visible portion of the muffler section. There may be one on the top, but I can't see it, so

That said, the best way to tell the MPE from stock is to look and see how may pipes come into the muffler section. The MPE uses a Y-pipe and has 2 connections to the muffler. The stock exhaust is a single connection on the driver's side of the car.

Here's what came off my car for reference (note, this is not oriented to how it was installed on the care originally).

I crawled under my car and exhaust has 2 inputs into muffler. Interesting how some of us got it from the factory
