"A total of 163,542 BMW M cars were delivered to customers worldwide last year, a 13 percent increase on 2020".
Pure M, M Performance, M Sport are still marketing messages with certain hardware, performance, price expectations to convince the customer to buy a BMW vehicle. Any increase in sales is a welcome statistic. |

World-wide sales figures of M cars is most likely driving up numbers, so despite GOLFFFR's observations on the USA market, it sounds like M3 and M4 sales have increased relative to other M cars, irrespective of the USA market disliking the grill. Performance for street use is astonishing, and perhaps people recognize and want this.
"The biggest drivers of growth among the High-Performance sports cars were the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 models introduced in spring 2021. " |

Look, I'm glad for them to increase sales, but I call BS on a "staggering" increase in sales on new M3 and M4 cars, I haven't really seen any in real life on the road. That's my litmus test.

What a load of BS; just because you saw a handful of 4 series in your small nook of existence means BMW is fudging the numbers?

We've been getting fewer M3 and M4s this past year than ever before. If it wasn't for X3 and X5/7 we'd be out of business. Any normal 4-series is just a blip in the data and our first GC only arrived last week. The books are most certainly cooked by badge-engineering. Two out of the three X3 models available are considered "M" cars now. Same or worse for 3-series sedans. At least they're still being honest when it comes to the 5-series, but the growth is definitely in SAVs, not sedans.

I've owned BMWs since 1971, and sold them for a living starting in 1976.
I've done everything I can do to support them including volunteer stints as president of BMWCCA, Chairman of the International Council of BMW Clubs, and forming a BMWCCA chapter over 40-years ago. If somehow in your mind I'm not entitled to criticize BMW when in my opinion they've lost their way, then you are on the wrong Forum. |

This is just a marketing announcement with no actual data to back up their claims. Of course BMW has the actual figures for each model, and BMW has added a number of product lines to the "M" family. Until BMW actually releases year-over-year numbers of each product line, as they've done in the past, it will be impossible to determine whether their claims are true, which is likely the point.
We on Bimmerpost can only go off anecdotal data, with those who work at dealers having quite a bit more insight than the rest of us, but not the full picture. If BMW truely were having a banner year exceeding sales records with their M3 and M4 models (seems impossible with all of the silicon shortages), they'd release the actual data to back up their claims. As they haven't, one can only assume the figures are down, rightly or wrongly. Personally, I've seen quite a few 3-series m-performance models, low single digit 4-series models, and a handful of the new M3 and M4s. Whether this means there are more or less than the prior gen, who knows. |

The unfounded fraud claims are usually projection. If you’re a fraud, you think everything else is fraudulent too.
The amount of cynicism here is at incredibly high levels. I guess people have problems in their lives. M is doing better than ever, both in terms of critical acclaim and sales. That’s it. Deal with it. Not everybody has your taste.

Describe the critical acclaim without mentioning performance appreciation. Also, does somebody have a figure of where these sales-increases took place? What markets experienced the most growth? |
