45e, pretty specced out options wise but no exotic individual trims or anything

That's not crazy. 45e ordered in July 2019 and now in production for delivery July 2020. Fingers crossed! That's crazy

That is insane that it takes over a year to order/receive an X5 for you guys. Is the wait time shorter if you got a model built in Germany?

Yes it is. For a five series around 6 weeks for custom build.

But HeavyD waiting time is epic. It will go in the books as the longest wait in history. Almost as long as making a government in Belgium.

The production in the US is one reason but the other is the 45e engine. Lots of orders and not enough batteries.

Same issues with the Volvo XC 90 T8 and Audi Q7 tfsi E. Waiting times between 6 - 12 months.

And for a PHEV this is annoying with the fast evolving technologies. By the time it is delivered new and better models are introduced. And you already want to order a new one. 😜

Hi All, On my side, I ordered a G05 45e with M package mid December last year in Belgium and it was supposed to be delivered in week 30. (which I find already very long). Following the crisis and the shut down of Spartanburg I just heard the news that it is delayed until week 38 This is a 10 months delay... A friend of mine who ordered the same car in October last year was delayed until July. He just cancelled his order... I hear much lower delays in other countries. I find it very surprising that for a 100k car you have such discrepancies between delivery timing in different countries.

Weird, I ordered mine in Belgium December 11th, was going to be built in W15 but now confirmed to W26 an delivered no later than W33(dealer says this is final and won't change anymore). Maybe yours just isn't planned in yet?

If they give me another delay I will cancel mine.

I asked why different dealers have such different delays in the same country and it all depends on the number of X5’s that were allocated to each dealer when the car was launched. If the dealer did sell well, he had to book some extra production slots and was pushed later in the pipeline for new cars. so in your case even if we have 3 days difference between our orders, we end up with 5 weeks delay in delivery I understood this a bit too late

I will only start hoping when I receive a VIN, they confirmed me at W23 too before rescheduling me to W26.
Which dealer do you have?

Wow those times on the 45e are insane. Granted it's a little more complex in engine and drivetrain but the difference in lead time vs my M50i ordered the same week is bonkers!

Thing is that all PHEV have extremely long waiting list.

Due to WLTP measurements the xc90 T8 is above 50 Gr CO2 so is the Q7 tfsi e. Only fiscally interesting SUV is the GLE or xc60 T8. I doubt if waiting's times are much lower. Porsche Cayenne e hybrid is too high anyway.

I just read that maybe in Belgium to will switch to wltp one year later so some older PHEV might be interesting one year longer.

Maybe try to buy one of the first second hand 45e's? But probably prices will be high due to shortages.

Or just buy a 30d and pay the taxes.

That used to be the system (as I was able to get one of my E92 M3s this way back in 2013 via a car my dealer had already in build but before spec lock-down) but as I understand it it's become more of a free-for all now i.e. BMW have X spaces available in a given year and it's pot luck if your dealer can get a build. I get very well looked after by my dealer given the spend I send them and they raised this as a potential issue back in Jan when I ordered just in case it went tits.

The problem is shortage in the HV batteries.

Hello all. My G05 "started production" May 18th, FINALLY! As of today it still says "Started production". No change 12 days later. However, my Dealer and the BMW Genius said it's "estimated" to be done June 8th. My car had been pushed back quite a bit and I was told late July. I called my dealers General Manager and they somehow got me moved up a bit which is why it went into production May 18th. Still Patiently waiting. Stay safe.

My dealer in Belgium also told me my car went to status 150 production Started May 18th and is still status 150 today and the production will be completed by end of next week.

I don't get this. If I read other posts about production it's a matter of a few days to go from 150 to 155 Production Completed. This is a almost 3 weeks to go from status 150 to 155.

Does anyone knows what's going on?

I saw this a while back, and although it is for a 330i built in Germany, I think it may hold for either direction.
https://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/14/h...d-to-delivery/

I Noticed: ** Build start (150) to build finish (155): 1-2 weeks
For me:
. . . . 150 - 5/27
ETA 155 - 6/11

Don't know what is worse, getting a "confirmed date" and a vin like most of you get and still not being able to trust that info or not knowing anything at all. I still didn't get any date for mine. Calling my dealer for an update next week, but I'm not expecting any change...

Back in the days when I ordered my 435d, it was also a new car, some individual options, it arrived 3 months earlier than initially expected. Even with the corona issue (which bmw will happily use as an excuse for everything) this is really crazy. This whole system of dealer slots is messed up, it should be client slots, first order first out. Taking into account they group some orders naturally but not delaying orders for months like this... There's a limit on being an understanding customer.

Agree. Current approach is not customer centric but rather internal politics focused... I can understand extra delays due to logistics or some specific options not immediately available but I can’t really understand why you end up with the lack of transparency due to their dealer lottery.

So that's also 12 months from order to delivery?
I ordered beginning of July 2019 and I hope the car gets delivered 2nd half of July.
Normally production is completed this week but I will check with my dealer on Friday.
I received a VIN last week but it it still doesn't show up on VIN decoders.

Anyone knows when a new VIN is available online?

A year waiting time is just completely over the top!
