IMHO the HK speakers is the best value for money. Spend the money you save on a decent speaker setup for in your living room. (not home theater systems or streaming devices, real speakers) I'm not arguing that the B&W isn't good. They are superior speakers. But the environment / situation when you listen to them is far from optimal. A lot of the fine details get lost or won't be noticed. So why are you paying premium for it? |

I find the acoustic glass to be the factor that makes the B&W stand out. My cabin is quiet enough that I can actually enjoy a high-end sound system in a moving vehicle, and the B&W system is the equal of, or better than my previous B&O system for sound quality.

I have soft close but the doors are so heavy they softclose them selves. B&W is nice off course. It's 3500 $ it has to be. I have HK and acoustic glass. When I drive electric in town in complete silence i am perfectly happy with HK. The lightning is nice and the covers look much better with B&W. Display key: I have it and I haven't used it ever. Normal fob and CD on your phone I much easier. It is to big and you can't program both with the same profile. Ambient air I have for ionisation. Not for the car scent. Can't compare with or without. The scent I never use. Heated and cooled cup holders I don't have. Can't judge in that but I wouldn't use it much. |

I would not get the display Key, it lags so much. It's just interesting that they offer it in Europe and not in the US when the X5 is made in the US... Maybe by keeping the options low, they can manufacture them a lot faster? I did wish the air suspension wasn't standard. I know the ride is better but people say it's unreliable. Anyone have any comments on this option? Last edited by sebseb; 06-02-2020 at 08:40 PM.. |

The unavailability of the B&W system, the acoustic glass, or the leather dashboard are really making me think twice about ordering the new 45e after being very happy for the past 3 years with the 40e.
To me, the entire reason that this model exists is for people who don't want to have to choose between economy, performance, and luxury, they can have it all. Positioning it as some low end model, with even less option availability than the sDrive 40i, takes away from that purpose. |

Red calipers?!
Looking at the Pricing Guide, it looks like BMW is actually giving us a choice of red calipers? I'm shocked. I don't see that option on any other U.S. BMW. They are usually reserved for the BMW M Performance retrofit of something special like the M2 CS. This must be an error (I hope I'm wrong).

Guys, Am I missing something as the ordering guide makes no sense at all. Compared to 2020 40i, we loose the ability to order Driver recorder, acoustic glass, leather dash, cooled/heated cupholders, SoftClose on the 45e. Is that the case with only 2021 45e or is the 2021 40i going to face the same options cuts?

Ok thanks though. If you come across the ordering guide for the my21 40i, let us know.

Do you know if the red calipers will be an option on other cars like X3M, M2 Competition, etc.? |

"BMW M GmbH was founded in 1972 as a business unit for the sporty products of the BMW brand. At that time the official name was still BMW Motorsport GmbH. It wasn't until 1993 that it became BMW M GmbH. The newly created sports car division was meant to combine and professionalize BMW's racing activities under a single, unified corporate identity. The unifying element for all of this was to be a crisp color scheme. Designer Seehaus was part of the team in charge of it, and he was the one who created the BMW M colors of blue, violet and red. Blue stands for BMW, red for motorsport and violet for the unique combination of the two." While you Quote:
Great news, red is now an option and still on brand for BMW ///M. Red calipers have been confirmed for 3er, new 4er and X5s. Black calipers for X7s. No word on X3/4 or X3/4M.

Just wondering... if I order a 45e in the US today, how long will I have to wait on average to get it? I suppose it depends on options but a rough estimation would be enough. It is to compare to average waiting time in EU 😉

The first date of production for the US 45e's is 6/20, I would imagine delivery would be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after that. The two orders I have seen have production dates of 6/20 and 6/26 so they should get theirs in July sometime.

Begin March, before the covid shit hits the fan, I asked my dealer how long it would take to get a 45e delivered if I would order at that time. Answer: November, December. I think we have another perception of time in Europe |
