Can u put an actual cigarette lighter in the 12v?

Found some stupid thing like these, and didn’t realize it’s an actual cigarette lighter until I have them in my hands. Slightly worried if i accidentally pressed it in as how a cigarette lighter work it would destroy the 12v socket due to heat

Anyone know if the 12v socket in modern cars are still designed for cigarette lighter use and can withstand the heat?

In some markets, BMW offered a smoking package, don’t know if they still do. Note, there are two different sockets with slightly different IDs, so even if it did potentially work, some might not actually fit. In the manual, BMW calls it an accessory socket, so may also have a current limitation.

My 2019, that I got used, came with a BMW-branded cigarette lighter (and an ash tray that fits into the cup holder). I've used it a couple times. So I wouldn't worry about it!

Smoking may be diminishing in some places, but it is still a major part of life in some countries and cultures.

Wasn’t it the Bricklin or maybe the Delorean that didn’t come with a cigarette lighter or ash tray? Neither faired well in the marketplace. Certainly not the only reason they failed, but maybe it helped.

Good idea. Would never use the lighter anyway
