M Performance Parts installation costs

Soo...

I was thinking, and maybe I'm not the only one, that it would be nice to have some numbers (total cost or labor hrs) to go along with all the mod activity lately - maybe an "official thread" even. We share car and lease deals with regularity, how about actual third party performance part installation costs?

******
Let's start a list:

M Performance pedals. $20 (Labor - DanG)
M Carbon mirror covers. $80 (Labor - DanG)
M Side-splitters & M pedals. $280 (Labor $250 & Paint $30 - Mantii)
LSD installation. $720/775 CAD (Labor - Killramos)

When I ordered mine, I requested the black grills be installed at port. When the car came, still had the stock ones. Sales guy and manager were nice about it, ordered the part which came 2 days later. Did not charge me for the part or labor (nor was it included in the original sales price).

It was late in the afternoon when I got to the service area for them to install. I was showing the mechanic what I needed done and asked him if he could also change the stock reflectors while he was at it, and he said no problem. So got both of those things done at the dealer with no charge.

One of my friends who works for a local bodyshop will be painting my side splitters and installing them along with my m performance pedals for $250. Paint cost me additional $30. Other body shops in the area were asking close to $600 for the side splitters and pedals.

It is great that they took care of you like that. I mean, yeah, they rectified a mistake, but they went beyond that for you as well. The car is going to look awesome with those side-splitters.

Have you installed performance springs?

Last week I was trying to learn how much members were paying to have them installed (because the recent H&R mod results look so awesome across every post). I had trouble finding any discussions containing labor cost though.

Anything done at port should be no charge. My dealer quoted me the following, did it all myself in under an hour:

Mirror Covers - 1 hour
Grilles - 2.25 hours
Pedals - 2 hours
IND Reflectors - 2.25 hours
Replace Indicator Bulbs - 0.5 hours

Grand total $1,100 completely insane.

Wow. Beyond insane and thinking they can actually charge this and get away with it. You are spot on though, about an hour of work total here. Took about 45min to install my side splitters and pedals, of which both required drilling.

This is simply not true. My dealer confirmed that there are install charges at port. I questioned this at first, however after several other people reported their dealers saying the same thing i believe this to be true. I started another thread on the topic

I am just repeating what my dealer told me for things like LSD, diffuser etc. said no charge for labor, don't get to keep original parts, can include in lease. If you're dealer is telling you something different that may be the case in your instance, no idea. All I have to go by is what my dealer quoted me in writing.

The port installed charges are greater than the parts cost from the parts counter. Example M pedals cost $240 at the port and list for $150 at the parts counter.

Yes my dealer told me their were no install charges as well. Until my car came in and i noticed the price of the mparts on my invoice were more than they should have been. Then my dealer checked and said that there were indeed install charges. Since he had previously told me otherwise i was able to get them paid for on the dealers dime however the moral of the story; Most dealers don't know what they are talking about.

Yeah I was literally told parts counter or port installed same exact cost. I was too late to add any of the stuff anyway so just sourced it all myself from Sun and others at a steep discount, so I never got far enough in the process to discover what you did. When I had in writing quotes I had no reason to question it.

Interesting... my dealer had no idea even if items could be installed at port. I think he was saying "no" so they could do install for $$

Glad I came across this. I am about to place order. Need to make that last decision on few port installed or DIY items.

Also, the exhaust?

So here are the hour numbers for a few things that I got installed:

Grills: 0.9 hrs
Pedals: 0.75 hrs
Mirror Caps: 0.9 hrs

There should be standard hours in the install manuals for the parts.. Someone posted the manual for the aero parts on the boards a while ago:

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1039167

Does anyone have the install manuals for the other performance parts?

I paid $60 for my exhaust to be installed at a exhaust shop near me. $295 is insane.

As for anyone doing mirror covers I did mine myself and it was pretty easy and straight forward.

That's crazy! Try seeing if there is any exhaust/muffler shops near you. They can easily do the job. I only paid $60 for install at one near me.
