Ideal EQ Settings for HK Audio System

Can any audiophiles pleeeeease tell us what the best settings would be? (I drive an M4, not sure if there's a difference between the M3/M4 HK sound systems.)

I gotta believe it's stock. They were paid to engineer a high end system out of the box.

Right... Sorry I should probably be more specific; I mean as far as the EQ settings go, to get the sound as clean as possible (don't know how else to say it sorry lol). We had a lot of complaints as far as the E92 premium sound was right out of the box (as we do now with the F82) and this member was able to give us some settings that made the car sound pretty awesome IMHO as far as the stock sound goes. So I'm wondering if anyone here with the know how can do the same and give us some optimum settings in their opinion as far as the F82 HK audio system goes.

Here's the old thread from the E92 forums:

Optimal EQ settings will vary with type and source of music, road conditions, and personal prefs. That said, I agree; audiophiles please give us your recommendations! I always set balance / fader to suit me in drivers seat, then adjust w/ passenger(s).

Compared to the Individual Sound System in my E90, the HK system in my F80 just doesn't sound right. I've not worked out how to correct with the equalisation yet, so I'd be interested in what others have chosen.

I guess the first step would be to confirm if the Logic 7 surround should be kept off for best sound reproduction.

No mixmasters up in here? Don't make me go slumming in the F31 boards looking for help.

I listen to a variety of music but mostly hard rock/metal. I'm picky about how it sounds in my car. My 2012 X5 HK system was pretty good. I think the F80/82 system at baseline is more tinny/high frequency oriented. So, it's calibrated accordingly and to my ears.

In the end, it's all subjective.

But, either way, I arrived at these settings based on what sounds good to me.

When I get mine I will test it with a flat frequency Mic and figure out the most optimal EQ curve.

I tried Dasm's setting, but it was hurting my ears

FYI: any HK EQ tuning performed while the car is stopped will change the moment you start driving. That is the speed-dependent EQ and bass level feature in the OEM amp working.

Disabling Logic7 just disables the surround feature and not the Dynamic EQ and bass.

Here are mine - It really doesn't sound too bad.

I'm pleasantly surprised, although I set the bar a little low, due to the fact that I came out of a crazy good set up in my Vette.

Here's a pic of the set up in the vette

I'll use audiotools and pink noise to set the EQ when I get the car (in November)
It worked pretty well in the E90 and the sound is pretty good, it just doesn't have the power to play loud.

Has anyone stopped by a local car audio shop and ask if they will use a meter to setup? If you find the right person they may do for free in exchange for a ride or just a few bucks. I bet they will have some reasonable modifications/additions to suit your individual preferences assuming your feeling that your HK isn't measuring up.

I agree thats what i was going to do, you need a flat frequency response mic and a spectral analyzer if no one does it by the time i get my car I will do it.(3 weeks) but you need a flat frequency response mic if anyone does it.
