228i 1/8 th mile track runs

I was curious to see what my car was capable of on the 1/8 of a mile local drag strip. Finally had a chance to go last night and I was pretty impressed for how quick it is for a pretty much stock 4 banger.

I arrived at the track and right away I did 4 back to back pulls within 25 min. After my last pull I got a drivetrain malfunction and the car went into limp mode because it got way too hot. I let it cool down and proceeded to doing a pull about every 20-30 min.

Can't wait to do the turbo upgrade, full bolt ons, meth and e85. Should definitely knock the times down by a lot.

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing! Pretty darn quick for a stock.

Stock it's as quick 0-60 and slightly quicker in the 1/4 mile than my '93 NSX with a 270 hp V6... Torque more than offsets the hp and weight disadvantages...

Did you do any 1/4 passes? Curious to see how much faster the 228i is going to be both stock and tuned given the weight advantage as compared to the F30 328i.

I am guessing that an fbo 228i should have not any problems pulling on stock F series 335i.

Took the car back to the drag strip last night and my best run last week was my friends (f30 335i with full bolt ons) average time yesterday. So I could see a FBO 228i with sticky tires beating an e9x or f30 335i.

Off topic. I've been meaning to do a run, but everytime I drove by on Thursday, the place seems so packed.
How long do you have to wait for each run? And do you know what time they started?
Don't laugh at me, but I am tempting on giving my X5 a run.

Just curious, what exhaust system do you have on it? Looks like you changed to the M235i one?

Hey whats up!! I think you've came to Mckenna BMW before and I helped you out with some parts.

I believe the drag strip opens at 5pm. I'm off at 6pm so I usually get there around 6:30 I've gotten an average of 6-9 runs every time I go. Shoot me a text (951) 623-3140 and we'll head out there this thursday.

It's just a muffler delete with a 235i diffuser.
Sounds great in person!

That doesn't speak too highly of the supposed extra cooling on the M-sport...

This has been the case with most if not all ///M cars. I've seen many M3s and 335s go into limp mode at the race track or even around the canyons when doing spirited driving.

Just installed the AFE scorcher box and you can definitely feel the power increase right away! Literally took 5 min. No check engine lights either so I'm good. Gonna go test it out on the drag strip tomorrow to see how much better my times are compared to stock
