You may wanna consider cleaning them up really well and applying a coat of Opti-coat or CQuartz Finest to keep them cleaner longer and also to make them easier to clean.

http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-coat.html Yes, its a tad expensive, but you only ever need to apply it once. You can use the rest of it on the car or split the cost with a friend. I applied a coat to my HREs and they are 10x easier to clean and brake dust has a harder time sticking. |

maybe I'm old school but I have always used just mild soap and water. Seems to work great for me over the years with all my various aftermarket and OEM set ups.
after reading through the above options, maybe I should look into some alternatives!

This is the best way for me too but on some of my older cars I let it get out of control and needed something to help make the job easier. When you find a quality gel or spray its nice to apply and wait a few to find a rinse sufficient to bring a nice shine. The days of scrubbing forever are over for me.

Otherwise, diluted Sonax or P21S have been pretty effective in the past. Harsh cleaners shouldn't be a substitute for being lazy at cleaning wheels.

P21s Gel, mildly rubbed on, and let sit for a few minutes has been wonderful for me so far.
Keeping the wheels clean and putting an extra protective layer down early on helps out.

If you clean your wheels once a year using a product will make it a bit easier. But for those of us who regularly clean the car, soap and water are the best things. I remember 5 years ago P21S is the best thing, now Sonax appears to be the hit. I have never been a fan of Sonax products. In Europe they are nothing special (off the shelf) and I hate the way my garage smells after using their wheel cleaner. If I had to choose, P21S Gel is still my fav. Bottom line is, no matter what you use, you are still scrubbing and brushing. There is no such thing as spray on hose off that is safe for the wheels / brakes.
