Nav question

Is there a way to display route overview before you start your trip?
Do we just follow it blindly to whatever direction it tells us?

Yes use idrive after you assign the destination press left. Go to route preferences. You will see a few options for the route and traffic along the way with a color indicator. Also you can see time to destination if I remember correctly. Same on f30s.

Yup, you can see the route list as well as route preferences that display the difference in fuel consumption for each.

Was able to try it today. I'm able to access map view of route but not seeing the list. The only list I see is traffic list and route alternative.
Thanks anyway..

It took me over a year to find it in my F30. If I learn anything else new at the PDC I'll fill you in. Hoping I will have an even better handle on things after their instruction. My wife usually is the better listener but she can't make the trip, so I'll do my best.

The man at the shop (see, correct term as usual) did his best to explain stuff to me, but I had just gotten from the flight, no sleep in two days, there was no way anything stuck in my head.

Funniest thing about this all is, that this car was the first time I've ever read the manual. I hate those with passion though my husband seems to collect them. We have in storage back home the manual of his VHS player from 87or something, and I bet if asked, he'd know every detail from it. My technique is to send sir loin a help me mail, both and moan and whine here or as seen before, cuss when someone hands out the info.

Thanks Andrew! Now I might even venture trying to set our house address to the nav, I just picked a dot from the map and have used that ever since.

Sir Loin to the rescue... he seems to be a great person for that and knows his stuff. Lups, you gotta get the Nav down so you blood pressure/heart rate doesn't get higher than your RPM's . 1-8 buttons are awesome, use them even if it is for your favorite radio station and the closest Starbucks, heck put Sir Loin on speed dial .

Forgive me but I have to guess..... husband is an engineer or technical writer?

He is great, we live close by, so he's stuck with me. I met him a few days ago when his friend wanted to test the manual, and he did not laugh much when I nicely asked him to put my friends address to the nav after the drive. Not my best moment, as usual but I've learned my lesson with Candy. She always wins.

Yes, he's a sw engineer which explains why I never have a working phone, can't work out navs, have no idea how stuff works. I automatically zone out when those topics came along. I went so far that I told my parents he fixes wash machines for a living when we started dating, so I didn't have to listen them asking stupid questions from him. 5years later their machine broke, and the look on my fathers face was epic when he finally got to hear what his daughter actually married. "well, this tiny detail forgotten does not even surprise me Lups anymore..." My mother, the biggest snob alive actually cried from happiness.

Christmases got boring after that, so I lost.

- so funny.

Usually the job that is hidden is the other way around.... actually he isn't an engineer he is in sanitation.... or she isn't an aerobics instructer she is a "dancer".

You lucked out Lups! Please tell me he doesn't drive a Volvo....

Lol he doesn't drive at all. Before I dumped him and the kids and ran away to my road trip, he had driven 40 miles in this country this year. He has an Audi Q7. Sigh..

probably one day, Seattle for now. I'm going to come to SF soon though, a friend of mine is blackmailing me to go with for a tiny road trip, but we'll see how well it goes when she sits tomorrow to my car again. I'm still partially without a hearing because she did not trust Peter's brakes, and my ability to spot red lights.

I just spent time in the garage playing with the nav, there might be hope for us, Candy and I and to get room to do the mods later, I texted my audi salesman, I'm trading the bloody thing next week.

Might have to tell at home that last bit some time this week.
