Car dryer
Well I have to admit I have an OCD when it comes to my car.... Any car I have owned actually...... I hate to even think of letting any one wash my car even the dealer.... When I picked up my car I told them do not go any where near it to prep it for going out..... I will do it my self... So any way over the years I have picked up some very useful tips from a lot of people on how to detail my car.. But one thing I did not like was drying the car..... Yes I have bought the most expensive microfibres to do the job but still felt like I was making small swirls.....
So I have bought the ultimate machine to do the job it called cyclone aeolus pet dryer...... Yes pet dryer my wife thinks I have lost the plot my neighbours say I belong in a nut house..haha but this does the job great, it blows all the water from all the nooks and cranny sand it has no streaks left over after it.. Just thought I would share this info incase there is some one like me with the same OCD....

Some people use leaf blowers, I wonder how that would compare to your pet dryer. The pet dryer has a flexible house which seems nice, but I imagine leaf blowers have more power.

And leaf blowers are great for drying your car....until they pick up some pebbles or dust and wham! you get a scratch in your paint from said pebbles.

If you were really OCD, you would know that your M is a 2015 not 2014

I would imagine most people washing their cars don't do so in dusty environments with pebbles flying in the air.

A couple of things to add...I use one of my Stihl leaf blowers to remove excess water from my car. When using a leaf blower, you have to be aware of where the exhaust is, some blowers run it through the blower so you don't want to be spraying burnt fuel all over your car. Second, since you've just washed your car, the area around you is likely very damp, so the "risk" of blowing dust and pebbles all over your clean car is negligible.

You can also use a DI water purifier and not bother drying it at all. On sunny days the car should dry in an hour or so in dry regions. You can always take it for a quick spin on the highway, too. The mineral free water, once dry/evaporated, will not leave any residue or contaminants on the paint assuming dust and other crap don't land on the water spots while it is drying.
http://www.crspotless.com/ I have the DIC-20 system and have not dried my car in years. I am still on the original resin and the kit came with a replacement set of resin for when it eventually stops working. There is a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter on the unit itself which tells you that the resin is still good and the output water is at 0 TDS (anything over 0 has the potential to create water spots). Depending on where you live and the quality of the water, it can last you many many car washes. I have used it for well over 50 car washes, but my water starts at only 30-50 TDS (which is quite low) making the resin last a little longer than most I would imagine. Hope this helps! I bought my unit at costco. Seems they still sell em. Pretty much risk free if it doesn't work for you! http://www.costco.com/CR-SPOTLESS-De....11751987.html |

This is one of the reasons I bought a pet drier.... As I don't think they would release something that is going to injure you dog whilst drying it... It has a filter on it where it sucks in the air.. And I allways hold that end up off the ground so it has no way of picking anything up

I have always used the leaf blower method works great.
There is also a soft water system I saw somewhere that you can clean your car and let it air dry and it doesn't leave any water spots, or traces there was ever any water. Never used it but thought about it at one point. edit: found it http://www.autogeek.net/cr-spotless-water-systems.html

I would recommend an electric leaf blower (mine is a Toro) over a gas operated one because of the gas exhaust. It works wonderfully for drying a car (especially the wheels). The chance of drawing something into the intake is quite negligible unless you sit it on the ground. Has not happened to me in 15 years of use.

Late to the party here -
I think it would be possible to put a small cone intake filter (for cars or even a smaller one for bikes) on the air intake portion of a leaf blower to prevent it from pushing out rocks and what not...however I always have to ask - what are you doing with your leaf blower to get rockets in it while drying your car??? |
