Office app questions

Hello,
Can someone explain is simple english what type of messages we can receive using the "Office" app from BMW Connected Drive?

I was doing some test with my wife, but I can't get any e-mails, messages or notes from the iDrive, I must be doing something bad, or missing a setting on my car or my iPhone 5

I think you have to go into the bluetooth settings in your phone, select the paired device (your car) profile and then in the settings there to push the notifications.

You'll also need enhanced bluetooth option in your car or have that coded in.

Sorry I can't be more specific as I don't have my car yet to play around with.

Thanks, under settings of my car Bluetooth connection, I had the option "Show Notifications" in OFF, maybe that was it, I will test it later going back home and will post my results.

I'm receiving e-mails and text messages, but not automatic, I have to go into the "Office" menu and retrieve the messages, there must be a way to get notified (by the car) every time I receive an e-mail or SMS and not going the manual way....
What I did was opening the Fetch new data and Push notifications on my iPhone, there is no need to have the iPhone connected, it works fine with BT

An envelope icon shows up in the screen when emails/texts are received.

I can see the small envelope when a SMS arrives at the top right of the screen, but no signs when I receive an e-mail

I called and talk to the BMW " genius " and was told that no email or sms works with iPhone or with the S5 galaxy. Arent those like the 2 most popular phones in the world?

SMH... Other manufactures ( ford, GM, Huyndai, infinity, etc ) have no issues with syncing. BMW knows it doesnt work and yet they still charge you $500 for " enhanced BT " which means nothing if you own a iphone. WTF!

The "genius" you spoke to is incorrect. You can definitely receive SMS on the iPhone 5, in fact I also get WhatsApp messages on the iDrive but haven't had any luck displaying emails.

A few points to keep in mind to get it working (on iPhone):

1. Make sure you go back into bluetooth settings for the car (name is last 5 of VIN) after pairing and enable the slider for show notifications.

2. Also check your iPhone notification settings to make sure it's enabled for SMS, WhatsApp and email to show on lock screen and notification center for at least 5 items or again it won't show.

3. You only get notifications for messages that come in when you are already in the car and connected to the iDrive. Previous messages even if unread won't display!!!

Yesterday I was able to receive a couple of e-mails, but can't find the way to do it again, I changed so many setting on my iPhone that now I will have to start from scratch, haven't try whatsapp yet, will "play" with it later tonight and post my findings

Thank you, none of those 2 solutions did work for me, I know it works because I managed to get 1 e-mail a couple of days ago, but not anymore.....it should be easier or at least BMW can give better directions on how to set the car and iphone to get e-mails, this is frustrating

I got emails and texts displayed in a 2012 CIC, 2014 and 2015 NBT iDrive using that method with an iPhone 5 and its latest firmware.

The reason that you got emails once was because it was the very first time after pairing. You must kill the email app after each pairing if you want to continue displaying the emails.

Thanks man, one more question, do you have your iPhone 5 set to Push mail and Fetch new data?
Im going right now to my car with the laptop to make some tests

I managed to get some e-mails, but I did not killed the mail app, the opposite, I had to open it in order to get the test e-mails, if the app is killed, I don't get e-mails automatically.....weird?
