H&R 50474-6 Installed on my F80
So we installed the H&R's last night, as well as 15mm spacers all around. My car has passive suspension and honestly, I think the ride may have improved ever so slightly. I was a little worried about the lack of fender gap I'd seen on the rear of others' cars, and as it turns out, the car sits a hair low for my taste in the rear. It's a tough call because the overall body lines rake down and the lower rear seem to settle those lines down, but gap to gap, I really wish the rear was a touch higher. Has anyone experimented with a thicker rear spring pad, or know if any others are compatible with the f80? If there is something out there that could work, I'm happy to be the guinea pig given how easy the rear springs are to install and uninstall.
I hope everyone is having a great Friday, RM

I'm with you on thinking that just a tad bit higher in the back would be ideal. Hmmm we did used to use thicker rear spring pads on the E-36 M3 to to get a little more clearance. You might be on to something.

perhaps a spring pad from a normal 3 series would work? im betting the spring shape and design is almost identical, just not sure if they feature thicker pads or not

I think Tightie had a thicker spring pad on his car when he had HR springs only. Not sure where it came from though.

I have the exact same springs, but with adaptive, and I'm 100% with you. The ride has improved on mine as well, amazingly. Another 10mm higher in the rear would be perfect! Hoping somebody comes up with a solution. Doesn't sound like it'd be too tough.

I saw someone on the forum was using F32 springs. You can probably find pictures on the forums. I think the owner is JLT?... It's a white F80
With M Perf parts if that helps lol |

I have the same springs - I would say they definitely ride stiffer on my passive car, but maybe it is just mileage. Mine are getting just slightly bouncy over big bumps.

Thanks for all the input here. I'm still trying to see if there is an easy way to lift up the rear that's not detrimental to anything. I did these springs hoping it was a cheaper and easier alternative to the kw sleeves, but if I can't figure anything out, I may just bite the bullet on those.
Thanks again, Rm

The Eibachs are out too - 0.8" lower in the front but only 0.2" lower in the rear. I wish I'd seen them but I already ordered my KW V3.

No rubbing but my mechanic buddy has a few ideas we may try for the rear. I called eibach and **********s regarding the eibachs, but they mentioned only doing preorders now and delivery would be jan/feb. Waiting probably would have been smarter but I do really like the front look with h&r and they satisfied my instant gratification issue (to an extent), so we will in a week or two how things end up

''I lowered my car with the F80 M3 specific springs 50474-6(blue springs) The back is very low. Also the ride is pretty stiff/rough. I feel everything on the road thru wheel. My friend just picked up his M4 he got the M4 H&R sport springs 50474 (red). The M4 rides much better than my springs. Less road feel softer more comfy. I notice the difference more in the back. My back is much flatter stiff. His feels soft. Plus he said his M4 stock had plenty body roll now with springs doesn't. My M3 never had body roll. So I'm guessing the M3 is stiffer chassis/suspension? He also mention that there's 2 holes in back for spring placement/seat. He said my spring is on the lower side if it was on the other hole I will get more spring travel also said it will be alittle higher and softer? '' |
