Help me pick between two extended warranties
I'm about to refinance my car and have two options for warranties. I'd like some opinions on what you guys think would be best. Both are basic warranties that cover all basic parts, so I am just going to list the items I have found to be different between the two. Both warranties are transferable and refundable.
#1 - Route 66 3 years or 36,000 miles - $1,995 Included $0 deductible $50/day rental, max of $250 Not included struts/shocks navigation seals and gaskets except as required in connection with replacement of mechanical part #2 - AUL 5 years or 50,000 miles - $3,490 Included $100 deductible $30/day rental, max of $150 struts/shocks navigation seals and gaskets Will $30 a day be enough to cover the rental vehicle at BMW? The AUL warranty seems to cover more items, however, it has a lot larger deductible ($100 vs $0). Any input is appreciated! |

Search for the huge thread on ROUTE66, it will give you all the members experience with ROUTE66.
I myself went with ROUTE66 with their mainstreet 3yr/36K miles for $2300 and recently they paid for my 2 turbo replacement, front main seal, power steering pump Just make sure you pay for the turbo/supercharger surcharge. Very easy to deal with. |

Route 66 does not cover broken bolts. Found out the hard way. I cancelled my warranty. Four years later and no regrets. The only things that broke were inexpensive and easy for myself to replace. I'm money ahead. Be cautious. I've had good luck with these warranties on previous cars but depends on each car.

How many miles are on your car?
I got the route 66 for the same price except for 5 years 100k miles. I haven't had to use it yet, but I've heard good things from people that have. I also didn't have a turbo surcharge, but my policy does have the box checked that the car is a turbocharged car, so pricing varies by credit union. I went with penfed and also ended up refinancing my car through them for a lower rate.
