Xenon Headlights

Looking for Xenons to replace my halogens and came across Bi xenon AKL. Can someone please explain what the difference of these and the regular ones that are a couple hundred cheaper? Any help or advice would be very helpful.

Found these as possible replacements on ECM. Euro Spec Bi-Xenon - OEM

Can anyone verify if these will work?

THis is thier description.

From BMW Europe comes this bi-xenon kit that drastically improves your US spec F22 lighting performance. If you have Xenon headlights this kit will eliminate the amber corners for you. If you have Halogen headlights, this kit will both delete amber corners and add Bi-Xenon lighting to your vehicle.

Bump-

Been doing some research and seems not many have tackled this model yet but will soon. Aftermarket look O.K. but I'd really like to retrofit OEM if possible. Can anyone help with all required parts and any knowhow?

I understand it will be expensive but plan to do it over time. Im sure someone else is kicking themselves not getting the xenons. Anyway, thanks

Coming from a former halogen equipped car on the 328, this is what I learned:

This is going to be a somewhat of a big project and cost will be easily 3-4x the price of having xenons equipped in the first place.

Remember that Euro is RHD, so the projector cut off could be reversed

You're probably going to have to code the car for xenons

Ya I may just end up upgrading halogens and just get xenons next time. Money to other places may be smarter. Any ideas of what to do to make the halogens look thier best?

I have halogens as well and I hate them so much to be honest. Most solutions are rather costly and my car is a lease, so I'm planning on just swapping the bulbs to white/blue so they aren't that ugly yellow anymore.

I've been in contact with some on the xenon retrofit companies about the idea of working with mine. Many will at the expense of me possibly being without a car for a few weeks. Can't really swing that. I'd like to go Oem but seems to be a complete hassle.

I really don't understand why they won't just make the xenon lights standard and add LED's as an upgrade. At the very least use halogen projectors as standard. Even Hyundai does that.

It's whatever. I'm going to get some retrofitted ones and call it a day. But yes, next time they will be from factory.

ehm! Don't mean to be a ricer here but I installed these H7 LED headlight bulbs about a month back:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MOR4CDI/...ing=UTF8&psc=1

So far so good. You can't tell they're not HIDs. The lighting seems to be on par with the factory halogens but not nearly as good as HID projectors. More glare than stock halogens but not blinding thanks to the headlight design. The installation was somewhat involved as I had to remove both front tires so that I could get in there and apply enough force to "clip" the bulb in. Not possible to install w/o taking the tires off.

Bulbs have been very reliable.....and they turn on full power instantly unlike HID xenons. No delay at all. No flickering and no CANBUS error messages at all. This should do until f22 xenon headlights are more common on ebay.

Ya I may focus on other mods I want to complete before headlights. They just bug me and I wish I got them from the factory. When they are available on eBay what all will be needed to get this to work correctly. Taking wheels and bumpers off seems like a big job.

Anyone thinking of going the aftermarket retrofit rout? Love the OSS/Oneighty designs and are always on the 3 series forums.

On my 128i I used PIAA H7 replacement bulbs. They are quite a bit brighter than stock but not as good as Xenons. But PIAAs don't cost a fortune either.

OSS Designs retrofitted a set a while back. They look good I just haven't taken the plunge yet. Check out their intagram page. Their work is second to none.

Considering those LED bulbs linked above but would like to actually see better along with the color upgrade from yellowish to white.

There has to be some 2's with aftermarket HID kits installed.
