Agreed

Harloff staff is great - low pressure and low key.

Jim Bovee is a pleasure to work with

As far as BMW of san diego... I think they did a good job w/ me. Well i think my Salesman is what did it for me.

Joe McCormick was SO straight forward and helpful. I could call him day or night with questions..

I was looking at the other dealers, but none had any cars w/ my specs coming in.. so i was left w/ bmw of sd.. no compliants though!

I've had good experiences with Harloff, too. A couple friends of mine also have great reviews for them.

I got my E90 through Brecht BMW over in Escondido and have nothing but nice things to say about the people who helped me. Jon Walker was my salesperson and he was sooo helpful and accomodating and just an overall pleasure to work with. Their sales manager was also great and quite friendly really. Cornelia in finance was a great help, too.

Overall, two thumbs up!

the pre-owned staff, however, I don't regard as highly. But that's a story for another time

Its interesting that BMW of SD is the largest bmw dealership in san diego, and yet none of you purchased it there. I also called bretch, harloff, and cunningham and no one was able to beat or match my price.

I did, despite plenty of expectation that I'd never give them my business. In the end, it came down to a couple of factors: They're the closest to where I live, and I figured I might have a better relationship with the service department if I purchased from them, and also I wanted to give my salesperson the business.

He was by far the best I had dealt with from five dealerships. He followed up consistently, remembered every detail about me along the way, and never pressured me to finally commit to a purchase. It was close to six months from the time I first set foot in there and met him to my actual order date.

They weren't the absolute cheapest; the difference came down to about $100. I decided that the proximity and goodwill were worth more. Of course I've heard the horror stories about their service department. I'll give them the chance to prove otherwise.

First, though, they have to respect my repeated requests not to drill the front bumper for the license plate frame. We shall see, sometime in early November.

I haven't bought a BMW from them but did give them a chance before I bought each of the last two BMWs I bought. Their sales staff is horrible, IMO. The first time I was in there was about 5 years ago where they played the paper squares game with me. Their deal was horrible and they were just trying to play me for stupid. Got sick of that and went elsewhere with my business.

Since then they have changed management and rebuilt their building, etc. so I thought I'd give them another chance. Having not seen an E90 in person yet, I spent about 3 hours with a sales guy. Test drove 3 cars in various combos of auto/manual and sport/no sport. He basically had a sale but when it came down to finding a car with my desired options, he pulled out the whole paper square thing again. I made it clear I wasn't interested in playing this game and wanted to know if there was even a car optioned the way I wanted somewhere on the ground in the western US or close to landing in port. He couldn't do it.

The sales guys there are just lackeys and don't have the authority to search inventory. The guys who could do a search (supposedly only 2 of the finance guys had that power) wouldn't do anything until I agreed on a price and financing for a car that might have to be ordered, which I told them I wasn't going to do.

Apparently they still get plenty of business despite these old tactics. I just can't believe people put up with it.

I have to agree that BMW of SD's sales staff is not the greatest. I was in contact with one of their guys for about 2.5 months regarding an E90. I went in and test drove the car with them. I told the guy abround when I wanted the car and what I wanted. He calls back few weeks later confirming that hhe was about to start looking for my car. I wanted him to tell me the one I wanted was on the boat. I told him to call me when he had exactly what i wanted. He never called back, needless to day he didn't get the sale.

Also need to put in a good word for Harloff. I didn't buy my car thorugh them, but they were extremely helpful. They were able to secure exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately it came down to price, and when I told the sales guy there what I was being offered, he said to take it.

Thumbs up BMW OF SAN DIEGO

Bought my first Bimmer from BMW of S.D, they did a superb job! My car salesman, Mr. Moises Rivera was extremely helpful, very professional! Each and everyone of them, the loan officer, the guy who explains everything(BMW 101), etc... Not a problem at all....... I will definitely buy them my 2007 X5.....

I'm wishing I'd bought from BMW of S.D., as they are closest to where I live. I bought from Harloff, in fact from the same guy who gave Marcus330i a great deal. But for us, he didn't budge at all from ED MSRP, and let us drive off the lot on redelivery with a near empty gas tank. Though the guy was nice enough, at times I got the feeling he really could take or leave our business... This was our first such purchase, so we will have to take lessons learned to the next time...

A good deal at BMW of SD great sales staff at BMW of R'side

I had an excellent experience (A+) at BMW of San Diego. I did most of negotiations over the phone over a two day period. I guess it helped that had purchased my previous E46 from them. I know the Sales Mngr personally Valiente (former Marine) so I experienced none of the BS normally associated with purchasing cars. My past experiences with the Service Dept have been so so (C-).

I would also give a favorable endoresment to BMW of Riverside. My salesman Jay a true enthusiast, took the time (nearly 2hrs) to explain and demonstrate every aspect of the E90.

I bought from Harloff too. They were infinitely better than BMW of SD. BMW of SD's sales staff (I met with more than one of them over the many many months that I was contemplating my purchase) was a huge disappointment. They weren't that knowledgeable about the cars and were pretty unfriendly. Harloff had the best staff and the best deal.

Thumbs up to Harloff. My salesman was Mark. forget his last name. I went in to order my car and he supprizez me with it already being there. I told him about 3 weeks prior to going in there what I was looking for. He took the liberty of finding it on a boat to oregon. He then did a dealer trade and when i walked in there it was wrapped in plastic. I was shocked!!! also a friend is a master tech there...

Anyone know what the story is about getting your car serviced at dealerships you didn't buy at? Will they still give you a loaner?

I purchased at Cunningham BMW and got my car serviced at SD BMW and they did not provide me a loaner. I was told they are only loaned to past customers.
