Plea bargaining in suffolk
I was stupid and cut across three lanes of traffic into the HOV lane. I got pulled over by suffolk PD on 495 but the guy was very nice and only gave me one ticket "disobeyed traffic control device". I know people usually get unsafe lane change and another ticket along with "disobeyed traffic control device" so I am happy I only got one ticket.
Last summer I got a stop sign ticket (3 pts) in Suffolk and got it plead to parking ticket for $450. People that were there with me were all getting a similar deal even if they had a ticket that was more than 3 pts (which I think is not fair). I was wondering if the lower level violations (2 pts) also have such high fines? Because I thought 3 pts was a "low level" violation but people with 6 pts/8 pts tickets were getting the same $450 deal as me. I hope I don't end up paying another $450. Any insight? |

In suffolk you only plea bargain when you get tickets in certain towns because you got to there town court.
If it wasn't in a town then you go to suffolk traffic court and no plea bargain. It's sucks |

Lol maybe you should get a real BMW instead of driving around a financed mommy mobile. Or maybe you can go back to elementary school where you can learn how to spell, it's "recklessly" FYI.

In Philly, they'll happily let you bargain down the points, as long as you pay the fine. Revenues are king. I wouldn't be surprised if that's common in traffic violation courts.

$450 sounds a little high for a 2 or 3 point ticket, and $450 sounds low for a 6 pointer. My experience is that a 6 point or more ticket typically ends up costing between $450 and $650 depending on the prosecutor. Keep in mind that's me negotiating as an attorney, not sure what they do with non-attorneys.
