N55 - 192,000 Service

Good Morning!

I am preparing to get my car in for a major service as I am rolling up to 192,000kms. I have always followed Mike's preferred service schedule which is found on the forum.

My questions are around which fluids specifically are people using for the following:

Brake Fluid

Manual Transmission Clutch Fluid

Manual Transmission Gearbox Fluid

Differential Oil

Do I stick with OEM fluid or are there better options that I should use?

Thanks,

D

Did you have the carbon deposits issues in 120000 miles?

BTW, I'd rather have the dealer do the brake fluid change; they are so much more equipped and it is not expensive.

Red Line Vs Oem

OK - so I boiled down the question to RL vs OEM.

IMO RL 75w-90 for diff is really good as well as other RL MT or ATF fluids.
.
.
I think the OEM fluids are more lifetime or 100k fluids ~ meaning OEM fluids need to be changed around 50k while the RL fluids would need to be replaced every 30k.
.
.
At least this is my schedule -- although I have used OEM MT fluid but RL in the DIFF.
.
RL 5W-30 oil with OCI of 5K in an N54 for me as well -- RL has been great.

RL 75/90 NS for the diff unless you have a clutch type LSD
