BMW Mobility Kit

Just curious... Those of you who dumped your run flats for regular tires and went with the mobility kit, I'm curious to know what your experience was in actually using it. Did it work OK? Did it ruin the TPMS sensor? Did it fail? Etc...

they both work good. well on ftm they do from 06 e90's and some 07 e90's not sure about tpms.

Since replacing my OEM rims and tires, I've only used the mobility kit to put air in the tires, no flats.

So if the M Mobility Kit ruins the TPMS, if you switch to non RFT's and you get a flat, are you pretty much SOL?

I am curious too... if you get a flat how can you tell where is the hole that leaking the air?

So ne1 carrying a donut in their trunk if running on non-rft? And how can you secure the donut & the jack in the trunk?

I am wondering the same thing. I just got the kit but have not been blessed with the opportunity to use it. I am interested in how well it works and what the driving limitations are.

At worst, you just have to buy new sensors. Worth it for being able to ride on real non-RFT tires + no spare. It's an emergency go-to option anyway.

My local BMW tech (non-dealer) told me that those sealants not only ruin the TPMS, but also are impossible to clean out of the tire and I'd have to buy a new tire as well if I ever used one. Frankly I don't believe him. that may have been true 10 years ago when Slime et al were new. At least I hope he's wrong.

But +1 to the original question. Would love to hear from an actual experience with the sealant itself.

I have the bad feeling that it will stick to the wheel, tire and TPMS...no real experience with it tho...
I know for sure that years ago I bought one sealant from AutoZone, and used it, and was a PAIN in the rear to clean it off the wheel...

The kit is designed to work with your wheels and tires. It should not harm/stick to the tires or the sensors.

I have the mobility kit. if all else fails then I will just call BMW Roadside Assistance. Hopefully I will never need either.

I've been contemplating switching to non-RFT tires as well, but am finding the same problem. I've done quite a bit of searching, but there doesn't seem to be concrete evidence whether the M Mobility kit will damage TPMS sensors or not. BMW themselves say the Mobility kit is not for cars with RFT tires, but it seems some people are ignoring that warning.

From my experience, once that tire goop is pumped into the tires, the tires are no longer repairable by a shop. While I agree that the ~$50 to replace a TPMS sensor is not terribly expensive, when you add that to the price of a non-RFT tire, they seem to come out just as expensive as a RFT tire, don't they?

I went through all this calculating too. The way I figured it, a RFT is almost 400 bucks. Goodyear F1's (great tire BTW) are about 200. So even if you HAVE to replace the sensor and tire, it's still a lot cheaper. But I don't think the goop necessarily does ruin the tire and sensor.
