Upset is not the word.

Well let me first start off by saying I got paint correction done on my BSM f82 and I am ******* pissed I guess I shouldn't have done it by this guy because about 2 weeks later my car seems like it was back to where i started before i got paint correction. I am so angry that I want to go get my money back considering it was not cheap. My car is swirl happy right now. I have washed it once since I have got my paint correction done and I bought all new equipment before I washed it to make sure I wouldn't do any damage. I desperately need recommendations for someone in south Florida area that can really take care of me. I have been reading a lot on Modesta anyone have any experience with this type of coating that can shoot me some feedback. Thank you in advance

What kind of new "Equipment" are we talking about?

Do you have the ability to do all this work yourself? Garage access, power all that? If so my reply will be long winded but you can bring it back to better than new in 10 ish hours

Did you have the paint correction done and then NOT have it coated with anything? If so, just interested in your reasoning for not doing it. Mine needed a 2 step paint correction, then had CQ Finest applied the same day. A little over 2 months now, 7-8 weekly washes, and the paint is still flawless. I'm doomed to a life of handwashing it now, but the result is well worth it.

I am so busy with work, I just don't have time. Maybe 4 hours at the most. What were you recommending

I will get pictures up shortly if I can. The job was decent, nothing I was too impressed about. I am not a detail expert but I really think it was not done properly I feel like the swirls and water marks were all just masked away until I washed the car.

That's how most "detailers" do it. For a full paint correction on a black car, you really need to go to the best of the best, and prepare for it to cost $600-$1200. My best advice would be to go on Autogeek, DetailedImage, Autopia, etc. and look at the detailers that contribute to the blogs or write articles there. The guys who do this for more than just a paycheck. If one of them is local to you, use them.

I'll also second the coating recommendation. Spend the money to have your car CQuartz or Opticoated. It's worth it.

Don't have any experience with that one. I Opticoated my previous cars and my new cars have CQuartz UK on them. I'm sure properly applied Modesta would be fine too.

hi oreva,
as a fellow BSM and a detaikrr, I would go back to the detailer you used and ask him to document and summarize what steps he did for the paint correction

My fear is he did a quick paint correction and topped it off with a fishing glaze to hide the remainder of the paint swirls or defects hence after a few washes you are back from square one

Another good practice is to ask the detailer for you to come and inspect the car with you PRIOR to applying the Last Step Product (LSP) to ensure your expectations are met before the wax, sealant, or Manolo at in application

one more thing it will also comes down to properly washing and drying your car

the best drying method is to use air blower like metro vac, shop vac or leaf blower and avoid microfiber if you are a novice in detailing

That means no dusting or dry wiping the paint work even with a quick detailer

wipe it down with an IPA mix to get rid of any polish or fillers.

I had a Jet Black M3 that looked good after I polished and waxed but the swirls were still there.

How do you like the CQuartz UK? I bought but have yet to apply, need time for full detail and paint correction first. I'm curious specifically because the UK costs noticeably less than the regular.

Sorry for thread jack...

OP - Perhaps the issue is in your maintenance routine... can you please outline your exact maintenance methods (step-by-step breakdown of the process and products used)? Are you using the 3 bucket wash method, clean microfibers, clean wash mitts, etc?

The saying goes "black is not a color, it is a full time job"... and that is unfortunately the truth.

Proper maintenance is absolutely critical with any color, but it is even more important with dark colors as the defects will be much easier to see. While it is true that defects will occur overtime regardless of how careful you are, proper maintenance will drastically reduce the overall amount of defects, severity of defects, and rate at which these defects occur therefore your car will require polishing less often and the correction process will be much less invasive. This is important as it allows you to preserve more of your clear coat over time.

CQuartz UK is a great product... IMO it is one of the best "bang for your buck" coatings out there.
