Insurance

How much are people paying for insurance, and with what carrier?

My e90 is coming in this week. I was quoted ~1500 a year for 250/500k, 500 deductible with Traveler's. 28, married, zero points.

Hopefully come April 1 we can all reduce rates.

I should add that I'm in Massachusetts. Really interested in hearing what other folks are getting in this state.

All depends where you live. the closer to Boston you are the more you will pay.

I use Safety Insurance but I don't recall how much mine is. I have a $1000 deductible that reduces the premium a bit and I'm a step 9 which also helps.

Damn, you're paying a ton.
I'm young (and the primary driver on the car), have comp. on my car and pay about $650 a year ($317 per 6 months I think) $500 ded.
325xi Maine, USAA. (I understand Maine is different based on ZIP and thefts, but i live in Portland haha)
Multiple car, homeowners discount, good student discount, no violations/accidents, but the big ones come from telling them I have BMW assist, F,S and curtain airbags and ABS, etc...

I still need to install that alarm...

MA's price is jacked up because you have to go through insurance agents and need your agent to help you renew your registration. This tends to jack up the cost. I was paying less than a grand for a full year when I was in college / grad school in Madison, WI.

The rates there are not because of using an agent. It's because MA sets the rates for the companies, thus, no competition. FWIW, WI is dirt-cheap for insurance, so you're really comparing apples to oranges. And if WI's your measuring stick, you'd gag if you moved to Miami.

but i'm on a family plan where its my family together but each car is separately quoted. A tad less expensive that way
