$53,700 which means 80,000€ in Portugal which means I'm going to cry a lot.

With the recent price increase of the M3 (plus the additional standard features), I think $52,999 US feels right.

Hope that it will be lower than that, but it's my guess.

The specs better be good for 52-53, that's a lot of dough to spend for an entry level anything...even an M!
Else, man up and step up to the larger sister...

I'm guessing 51. I'm also guessing more colors/options for Year2 so those that buy the 1st year will come to regret not waiting, unless they absolutely love the initial configurations...

Not to turn this into pricing thread 2.0, but the 1M was what $47,100? A small bit of inflation is ~ $50k.

Agree the 350 will put pressure on some of the potential M2 buyers. It got my attention.

I think the argument would be that more than a small amount of effort has gone into the R&D, development, etc. in comparison to the 1M - so while it is a good place to gauge the reasonable spectrum, I don't think it will be quite as mathematical as that.

Also, regardless of what BMW suggests for the M2, the market will determine what people actually pay - one of the M bosses said before that production would not be limited, but that they would be hard to get. So....you're going to see market adjustments and all that BS because some dealers will just be able to charge that much, and others won't have enough allocations to turn several cars and make a decent profit.

The 1M could be had with effort and research for MSRP, but I have a bad feeling that the M2 (from a pricing standpoint) will suffer from dealers trying to adjust the price UP this time because they didn't last time (with the 1M).

I certainly won't pay more than MSRP, especially because my 235 still has 18 months on the original lease - I am not in a hurry as a result.

I agree with your analysis. However, it seems that there are more legitimate competitors to the M2 this product cycle compared to the 1M. That should put some downward pressure on demand/pricing. Then again, this will be a higher margin low volume production affair. So....

You make a great point about the competition - there's so many options in this general space and price range that we should all benefit from aggressive pricing across the board.

Here's to hoping that you're right.

It would be like, super cool, if BMW made a short video to tease us. Begging for a tease. That's a new low

BMW realized they had built a crappy, under performing vehicle and went back to the drawing board, hence the delays.

BMW were waiting for Audi to bring out the RS3 to see what the specs were so that they wouldn't run the risk of an M2 with less power ! That has 367 bhp, and we're currently thinking the M2 will have 365. So I guess it's back to the drawing board for BMW to scrape up another 3 bhp. Let's hope, while they're at it, that they try to dig out a pot of VO or AY paint too.... although it's rumoured that the series 2 factory won't have enough paint brushes to widen the colour offering.

I think they've GOT to be making some cool stuff around this car - they did a pretty decent amount around the 235 and it wasn't even an ///M car.

Do you remember the 1M "wall" video? That was so sick...I bet that some similar stuff is being cooked up...

drove an F80 this weekend...I don't think they can screw this car up if they're going to borrow a lot from that car.

Here are the three notorious 1M commercials that were released when the 1M was already on sale.
