Would You Trade Your 235 for an M2 Knowing...

It'll have a DCT instead of a traditional torque convertor style automatic and the bad reliability that comes with DCTs?

Bad reliability of DCTs? you sure you don't mean SMGs? Where are you getting the info that DCTs are unreliable?

Hmm.. searching on 'BMW DCT reliability' yields a non-zero result and there appears to be a complexity threshold a bit beyond some BMW dealers.

That and calling someone a dim bulb just because they have a question to ask makes you look like a douche.

I don't need to resort to name calling. This and many other reports I've read of lead me to the unreliability concern.

Im the guy with a M-DCT, a ZF8, and a Getrag 6MT in my driveway. You must be the other guy.

simple solution... just buy cars with the ZF slushbox in them and I am sure you will be happy. Heck, why not just grab the dental floss and remove the 3 and 5 off your trunklid now!

Everyone knows the M2 will never be as good as the the 1M, the 135, the M235, or the 228. I think they ought just put the FWD from the Mini it it to go with the ZF. Better yet, BMW should change their plan and take all tech from 1-series, 2-series, and mini and trickle up to the M2, instead of advancing their Apex cars and trickling technology down.

To the point -- I said current DCTs -- not the ones from 2009 or 2011 -- please go drive one; there is a marked difference!

I don't think anything is confirmed. But current M cars usually have a stick and DCT option.

The 1M isn't a true M. That's why it's not called the M1. The 1M is great for what it is, but my M235i is superior in almost every way and it's also not a true M.

My $0.02.

Whoever says the 1M isnt a true M car obviously has never driven one or knows what an M car is to begin with.

Just my 2 Cents

That's some serious baller status to just be driving your M1 out shopping.... only one of these I've seen in the flesh is sitting in the Welt:

BIG baller!

I've never been to the Welt , but I did see this M1 at Bimmerfest. It's the only one I've seen in the flesh.

Oh please, the m235i is a great car, but so, so far removed from what is considered one of the best m cars in along time- the 1M. Why do you think the 1M holds it's value, while the 235 depreciates like every other run of the mill bimmer? Because it's better in every way....feel, conection, spirit.
