Leather flaking already?
So, my leather is going to shit on the driver's side after owning it for only 9 months. I owned my Audi for 5 years with almost no signs of wear. The dealer said this is not covered by BMW warranty, but as good will, they will have some dye or paint over it.
My issue is the wear and tear - I have never seen anything this weak from premium leather. Is this the new BMW standard? Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts for resolution? Should I let the dealer 'paint' over the problem or engage BMW NA? Thoughts?

My 2014 seats still look like new....not sure why they think that is acceptable.
My 2011 coral red seats didn't even have that type of wear at 50k miles and the coral red is much more susceptible to wear..Personally i'd engage BMW NA |

If worst comes to worst, Swissvax sells leather dye that will put the colour back in to the seat.
http://www.swissvaxcanada.com/mercha...e=LEATHER-CARE Not cheap, but amazing quality stuff. That's what I would use. Hope everything works out well for you!

Did you ever put anything on it? (Leather products).
I don't think it's normal that it would do that so fast, but even worse if you had use anything to protect it. Seems your jeans are too abrasive for it. I noticed the very early sign of this on my 2015 with coral red seats, where I rub against the seat when I get in the car (on the bolster). I'm trying to be extra careful not to rub there anymore... |

Thinking this is the culprit. Local dealership will fix it, but I think the tint shop who did my last install scuffed the leather.

Try taking it to Groits. I am sure they have a leather product that will fit it.
By the way, I use their leather product every six months and my 15 month old seats look brand new. |

I have a similar problem and I don't even have 3K and my seat was damaged "I believe" by the BMW dealership as I noticed it right after I got home from a service appointment.

I had the same location issue with my vinyl 235 seat.
I used a repair service that: shaved the flaking area, applied a hardening paste and imprinted the texture, then used a pinpoint gravity fed spray gun to blend the color. If u know where to look you can tell but the results are good. The tech said, other then quality of the fabric which he didn’t say, he thought the fabric was kinda tight and wasn’t flexing enough to prevent cracking. |
