12 hour slips quietly by.........
I wondered why I hadn't heard the 12 hour results. Guess thats because BMW was a little down the list this year. The 130 result was pretty good though! For those that didn't see the results...

Looks like it will be on Channel 7 on Saturday
From the Bathurst Motor Festival Website:
"Race fans will be able to re-live all of the highlights of the weekend’s action-packed WPS Bathurst 12 Hour with a three hour telecast on Channel Seven this Saturday. The enhanced television deal, bringing three hours of 2008 WPS Bathurst 12 Hour action to Australian television screens on V8 Supercars broadcaster Channel Seven, has been confirmed for Saturday the 16th of February at 2.00pm. The three-hour time slot sees the coverage duration increased by an hour on the telecast obtained for the 2007 Race – reflecting the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour’s growing popularity since its revived running in Easter of last year." |

I guess I now know what I'm doing at 2.00pm Saturday. I'm glad the motorsports season is about to start as the withdrawal symtoms are starting to kick in.

Is it any wonder the BMW 335i didn't win. With a spin off into the sand trap , a black flag served with a drive-through penalty for overlapping on a safety car restart and electrical problems that temporarily garaged one of the BMW's, the results are still very good. Especially when you consider they lost to two EVO IX's with a lot more development and AWD. In the 7th hour the BMW 335i's were 1st and 2nd and then the issues showed up and at the finish the Baird/Morris/Holt BMW was only 2 seconds behind the 2nd EVO.

The TV Coverage that was indicated in the brochure was :
-A 3 hour free to air special on the Channel 7, to be broadcast on Sunday 09 March 2008. -A 3 hour special to be replayed on FOX SPORTS in March 2008. but I'd still check this Saturday to be sure anyway.

Just watching the coverage on 7. The Baird/Morris BMW had a puncture. Seems like BMW also has no faith to run with RUN FLAT TYRES in their "PRODUCTION" 335i. So if the changes / modifications allowed to be made by the teams were for saftey reasons, what is this telling us???
Great result for BMW anyway. The AWD cars were just so quick out of the corners. Pitty Audi and other marques didn't have faith in their products to sponsor a team. |

Seems like they weren't carrying any Vishnutuning sponsorship on either cars this year unlike the 2007 cars which displayed on the front bumper bar, so they may have changed aftermarket ECU manufacturer. Also Shiv of Vishnutuning seemed a bit subdued and hinted on E90Post, that he didn't like their chances of winning this year. Maybe they were dropped
