shaving the wheel

guys, has anyone done this before,to reach the correct offset.

would shaving say 10mm from the hub or wheel mounting face(not sure what its called) weaken the wheel.
i cant find any csl wheels here with proper e90 offsets,i know they are a lot cheaper your side but by the time the import taxes etc are added im not much better off,so im trying to find another way of getting the ones that are available to fit,its so frustrating.

It would make much more sense to roll the wheel arch.

2mm or so is the max you can do safely. 10mm's and you won't have anything for the bolts to tighten against.

You can fix too much offset with wheel spacers, but you can't do anything with too little offset... except maybe roll your fenders...

Shaving if not done right can have some serious adverse affects. Needs to be done right by the manufacturer in most cases so that you know they'll warranty it. As to the CSL's - we have them in proper offsets, have you checked out the new Miro CSL's Here?

They come in a 19x8.5 ET35 and 19x9.5 ET33, plus we can ship it to UK right away. Send me an email or give us a call if you need help.

Shaving 10mm off the hub or whatever other part of the wheel would seriously compromise the wheel - don't do it.

With the US$ weak against the euro/sterling/what-not, what you can do is ask someone to buy the CSL wheels here and send it to you as a "gift". Mark the box "used wheels" - whatever you'll pay will be significantly less than buying it in your 'hood and paying VAT as well. Check out on your end how much import taxes are on "used motor vehicle parts".

thanks for your input guys, ill leave it then,it was just an option for some et20 rear reps.

i have seen some genuine csl wheels with 44 and 27 offsets that may have to do.

ive seen them on e-bay uk,well it states they are genuine csl reps?,still not ideal offsets for the e90 though.

ive been researching today, and a place about 45mins from me say they do csl reps with 40 and 30 offsets, and they also say they are velocity rims, when i e-mailed velocity a while ago they said they dont have a uk dealer,so im a bit sceptical at the moment.

As a heads up - Velocity reps are heavier than the Miro reps.

Oh, you meant "reps" = replica wheel. I thought you meant the real deal.

Those are amazing! Buy them now!

For the front wheels, you need to use a 5mm spacer to bring the offset to 39ET. Here is the link for H&R Trak+ spacers http://www.hrsprings.com plug in your car model, etc & it will bring you to the page where you'll see the part numbers for whatever H&R makes for your vehicle.

The rear wheels shouldn't be a problem w/ an E90, 27ET should fit just fine.

Good luck, post pics of your car w/ the wheels if you do end up buying them.
