all weather floor mats slippery?
not really a mod but i just got the BMW all weather mats and my right heel keeps sliding almost as if the surface of the mat is a little oily. never happened on all weather rubber mats in my other cars but maybe just need to get some more dirt and sand on it to add friction

+1. I have them for over 1 year now and no complaint whatsoever.

I kinda feel the same. I'm wearing Vans slipon most of the time. I don't know if its the shoes or the material. I also notced that my old 335's all weather mat is softer than my current ones.

Are these the rubber mats? If so, mine were like walking on a sheet of ice with smooth rubber shoes dipped in oil. You could pull a groin muscle trying to get in and out of the car.
I suspect the dealer or the factory sprayed them with "something" to make them dark and shiny. If you rubbed a tissue on them it picked up an armor all like substance. I took them out, washed them thoroughly with all purpose cleaner, wiped them down thoroughly and they were fine all last winter. |

So we got a loaner X3 today for service and holy crap were these mats slippery! It's the rubber black mats and I took them out and threw them in the back! Foot kept slipping when I would move my foot from the brake to the accelerator

I noticed this problem too. I ordered the OEM mats in time for winter and they are slippery enough that my heel keeps moving while driving. Not enough to be dangerous, but it is annoying. I plan on trying to clean them and if that doesn't work maybe scuff up the heel area a bit.

I have just bought a new X1 and agree with Fronzdan who mentioned groin strain when slipping on new rubber floor mats.... he’s correct and it hurts! It’s even worse as it has jarred my new knee replacement as well.
I have used sandpaper to roughen them up which certainly helped and I’ll try, as suggested on this thread, to wash off with a general purpose cleaner as well.... a “belt and braces job”. |

Could be mould release still on the rubber from when it was cast.
I have the weathertech mats and not slippery at all. Can't remember what the BMW Rubber matts were like new from my e46 |

Mine are BMW and are fine. I've cleaned them with Weathertech product though. I love the Weathertech ones and put my old Outback ones in my wife's Legacy... I got the dealer to throw in OEM as part of the negotiation.
