Chrome Kidney Grills or Black Window Trim?
Yesterday I picked up a Deep Sea Blue non-MSport 228i from stock which happened to have the black kidney grills already installed. They look fine, but I can't help thinking that it would be better if the grills matched the side window trim, whether they were all black or chrome.
Is there a way to convert the side trim to black, either as a replacement part or with a wrap, or something? Or should I embrace the chrome and find somebody who wants the black ones and swap for their originals? |

If you're indifferent and just want everything to match switching the grilles to chrome would be easiest, and you could definitely offset most if not all of the cost by selling the black ones.

I think I want to try the gloss-black approach first. I kinda like the stealth look.
Did you do the wrap yourself? I found http://www.shadowlinetrim.com which seems like a decent DIY route, or maybe I should find a local wrap shop? |

I just received my 228i xDrive deep sea blue and it comes from the factory with chrome trim. If you can post a picture, I'd like to see what it look like with the black grille and trim. I may think about changing both..

I haven't done the side trim wrap yet. I was going to wait for better weather! I don't really have any clear pictures of the front of the car that I've taken myself (I've got plenty of the back, with it's newly-dented bumper!) but here is one I grabbed from the dealer website when I bought it.

I still haven't done the wrap. I really do want it to be all-black, and I'd prefer the proper parts, but I also think I read somewhere else that the trim is bonded to the (fixed) rear windows, so it's a non-trivial swap.
