Broken door trim clip?

I discovered that the exterior piece of trim that surrounds my rear passenger door was loose and then when I pulled it back a bit I found that the clip was broken. It looks like a plug style clip. The clip slips into a channel on the trim and then the plug/knob part plugs into the body hole.

Anyway...where can I find a replacement clip? Is there a diagram that shows all the F30 trim part numbers?

WTH??? I was washing my car today and noticed this exact same problem, but on the drivers side. Tab broken exactly the same way. Nothing touched it to break it. Must have been defective clips. Ordered one off eBay $4 with shipping...geez. Didn't want to leave it like that until my next service

Ok this is definitely an assembly problem. I just replaced the broken clip and noticed that it snapped in tighter than the other side. So I open the rear passenger door, barely wiggle the moulding there and I hear the plastic plug break off and go trickling down into the car. The other side was defective as well. Now I have to order another. This should be covered by warranty, but for $3 shipped I'd rather fix it right away than wait until next service.

Wow. This is what I may expect from a Hyundai, not a BMW! I haven't ordered a replacement clip yet. If you don't mind sharing where you purchased yours from?

I got them on eBay. The first seller doesn't have a listing for any at the moment. But I got it quickly and it is OEM. The second was from seller: Albanyimports and was $3.65. I just ordered yesterday so no recommendation on this transaction yet. This is a lot more than the unit price from the online BMW parts dealers, but they kill you on the shipping. I think the clip is less than a buck but shipping was a ridiculous $12.

Just a tip if you haven't had to replace one of these yet....

The easiest way to remove the broken clip is to pry it out using a small flat tip screwdriver...and I mean small. You will likely need to break the tabs on the old one, which is fine. Be sure not to damage the mounting location for the clip. Insert the new clip into the hole in the car body FIRST. Then snap the trim piece onto the clip, making sure the clip is oriented correctly. Don't try snapping the clip into the trim piece first, you'll never get it that way.

Search for "BMW 51137117240" on eBay. That is the part number. I went with the seller "Albanyimports" who sells BMW parts and is probably a dealership. The part is $3.65 shipped from them. See if this gets you there:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151521516864...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Now the part is less than a dollar each from the well known online parts guys. But their shipping on the part is something ridiculous like $12. If you're going to place a big order or you feel like calling them and negotiating the shipping rate you can try that route.

It is expensive, unless you don't feel like driving to a dealer during working hours and picking it up in person, or getting reamed on shipping charges.

Ok I didn't think about it that much, where I live there are a lot of bmw dealerships and there's always one on the way.

How did you guys removed that little white clip?
I'm trying not dislodge or remove the trim from the car.
Let me know how you fixed that.

Thanks

FCP Euro has them for $1.19. Order ten of them, because you know you'll need them sooner or later, to minimize the shipping cost.

In fact it is the second time in 3 years. I don't remember if this was the same pin or the other side, but I bought 5 of them from FCP Euro.
At least it was easier than I expected to remove the broken clip and install a new one 👍
