MP rear diffuser - BMW vs eBay

I can't imagine for a simple polyurethane aero piece that there is any difference between ordering one of these from BMW or eBay. Except that on eBay, they're >$400 cheaper.

Anyone have fitment issues or otherwise with any of the diffusers from eBay sellers? There seem to be plenty out there, offering them anywhere from $150-200.

I'm in a lease, so will likely need to remove at turn-in and would rather not spend $600+ for a cosmetic piece I'll take off in 2 years (already 1 year into lease).

Any thoughts?

I have a replica diffuser. Fitment is 98% there. Literally have to crawl on my knees or get on my back to look up close to see any fitment issues.

No fitment issues. Look for europartsautostore.

Many thanks for the suggestions!

Think I'll pull the trigger on an eBay version. I'll look for that vendor Fronzdan. I'm still tempted to get RW Carbon's version, but again, a bit much for something I'll only have for two years.

Looks like the fitment is off on the top right corner if you zoom in.

I'm in a lease too, so I bought an EBay one too. Fitment is 98% so I can live with that.

Actually, it looks like your right side clips aren't fully engaged. I can see the tab from the pic.

Having just installed my ebay PU diffuser (seller carkingtuning2013) last night, i learned a couple things and one BIG trick. The diffuser I got fit well but could have been about 3/32" longer on each end. You can't see the gap once installed especially on my dark colored car, but if you have white or are even pickier than I am, you may not like it.

I almost gave up on installing this thing since I could NOT for the life of me get the clips all the way in. The first 2 on each side are easy, it's the middle ones that are a ROYAL P.I.T.A.!!! I read on a could DIY's that guys had to put all the force they possible could into getting the diffuser's clips to snap into the bumper's slots. While under the car I saw how much the bumper flexed in, preventing the clips from snapping in. I finally decided to:
1) undo the 4 heat shield bolts, carefully bent the heatshield down and mostly out of my way
2) I got a large set of pliers with long rubber coated handles (10" Kleins in my case), flipped them upside down and placed the ends of the handles on either side of the slot to provide support

3) I then, from under the car, looking at the back side of the bumper, pushed the diffuser clip while using light leverage on the pliers to push back against the bumper.
4) Visually check that the clip fully snapped in, it's not very audible. Do the same on the remaining clips.
5) In my case, the vertical end clip on each side didn't want to stay in on its own so I have to push slightly while inserting the screw on the underside. Install the remaining screws. Bend the heatshield back down and install screws.

It only took maybe 60lb of pressure to get each clip in, compared to roughly 150lb of pressure without the plier trick and I still couldn't get the clips in.

I was thinking of getting the ebay one you got. Do you think the plastic is a little shiny? I'm looking to find one that has the matte finish like the OEM one. Any complaints about the one you got?

Thanks

I got an eBay one, it was like 1/8 too narrow and had a downward bow to it, the thing actually cracked when trying to push it up to the bumper to clip it in. After that I bought an OEM one from a BMW dealer on eBay for $425 with free shipping, yes it was expensive for what it is but it fit perfect unlike the knockoff that I got and the plastic is actually thicker on the OEM one as well. I was hoping for the knockoff to workout. It must have been pulled from the mold too quick or was stored improperly.

I don't remember, but it was from a seller that has been mentioned here on the forums, I think it's just luck of the draw. All the sellers probably get the parts from the same place and every once in a while some batches are worse than others..

eBay replica diffuser, spoiler, front lip. All fit perfectly and I probably paid less for all 3 items than just 1 would have cost from BMW. Only BMW part I have are the performance grills because they were cheaper than eBay lol!!

I purchased mine last year from ebay, and soon as open the box I knew it was a piece of crap. The fitment and quality was horrible, also made of fiberglass and the holes in the bottom didn't match the bumper. I just returned it in a sec and I went OEM for $450. Night and day difference.
But I guess I don't learn lessons because I just bought the replica front lip from selma. I least I know is made of PP instead of fibreglass.
Just make sure is PP and I think will be better quality and fitment.

That link is for the rear diffuser. Did you get a selma front lip? Installed yet? How's fitment?
