Do your headlights suck too?
I just bought a 2013 328i xDrive and finally drove it after dark. Wow do these lights suck. I can barely tell the difference between low and high beams and neither one is good enough to comfortably drive fast at night. The driving lights however are bright enough to piss off oncoming traffic. They appear to be regular old halogen but I'm not sure I could tell if they weren't. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket setup that works well?
Thanks |

First thing (assuming you have the halogens) come up on the vertical screws about half to 3/4 of a turn. Second, upgrade the bulbs. I have ZXE's in mine, but will be changing them out to the PIAA bulbs after the beginning of the year. If you want to change the look altogether, there are the full LED lights that are sold by Umnitza, that are plug and play.

Can you just buy led bulbs and put them on halogen head lamps? I thought you had to have a whole new system? Is it possible to add angel eyes with these ?

I had the exact same thought the day I bought mine. Worst headlights ever. I went with Philips Diamond Vision bulbs. They're a nice white with bluish tint. Closest to HID color you'll find, not a cheesy blue. And, probably more importantly, MUCH better vision at night. Still not great, but better.
Lots of people on the boards recommended them and I'm happy so far. |

I had the LED bulbs in mine for a short amount of time, excellent light output, just didn't care for the light pattern of them.

I thought the same thing about my halogen headlights. After adjusting them with the screws they are much better now. I still have angel eyes envy, but at least I can see well now at night

Phillips diamonds are probably the best upgrade for unless you want to retro fit some Xenons. When I looked into purchasing my F30, I knew I had to go with the xenon upgrade or I would regret it, thank god I did. GL!

if you have projectors, do a xenon retro fit. xenondepot.com & ask for Steve. Best place on web for kits. I always used the 4300k bulbs. Tremendous output.

I also found OEM halogen headlights terrible. I went with Sylvania Silver Star Ultras, which are 4100 K, a good shade of white, & not yellowish, also greater range
MUCH BETTER, but not great |

Any time you change from a halogen bulb to a LED bulb....you need to code out Cold/Warm checks and change a line in the FEM to LED=aktiv.
At least I did on my 2014 year model.

I had halogens and couldn't believe these came on a 50k car. I ended up finding a great deal on ebay for 2 complete adaptive headlight assemblies.
I followed kapkanimd retrofit guide and it really is easier than it looks. Had I not gone down that path I probably would have folded and gone for the U shaped ones on ebay. Those are super easy to install and apart from being a little ricey look pretty good. |

+1. Coding was fairly straight-forward -- three items for each bulb
