235/35/19 recommendations (with rim-protector)

Hi all, I have a set of 19x8.5" rims here that will need tires for the summer and I'm having a hard time deciding what to wrap them in. I'm looking for 235/35/19 on all four corners, with a genuine rim-protector and ideally something cost-effective. There was once a point when I had no problem paying $400 a piece for Pirelli Scorpion Zero's in 20" but I just don't see the point anymore... I've been running a set of Falken 512's on one of my cars and they've been very good to me despite the low price.

So please, if anyone has any recommendations that won't make my wallet cry, and it absolutely must have a rim protector that works. As I understand the one built into the Toyo T1R doesn't extend far enough on this tire size when mounted on an 8.5" rim for example.

Also I live in Canada, so to any e90post sponsors (except Tire Rack) I apologize that I probably won't be able to purchase from you, import duties and brokerage fees would probably kill me.

Thanks guys!

This is what I'll be getting:

My friend has it on his Infiniti and it is quiet and sticky! I believe it is less expensive than the PS2, Bridgestone, etc.

Kumho Ecsta SPT...cheap, rim protector and good wet/dry performance...cant go wrong. they're also wider than most tires of the same size, giving you even more protection

Noooooo..don't do it! My friend bought them as a cheap alternative on his G35. They ride very hard and sound like a 4x4 truck on 33" mud tires. Most horrible tires I've ever experienced.

I took them to the tire shop and the guy hated me because they are so hard to dismount...meaning they are very strong tires....maybe thats why they sound loud but they will protect your rims...

Agreed..tires of this quality have no business being on a BMW. I wouldn't put those tires on a 1984 Toyota Corolla. Pony up and get a set of decent tires..it's the most important part of your car.

I can recommend the General Exclaim UHP tires. Great tires for the price (Only $126/each 235/35/19 on tirerack).

Are you looking for AS since you are in toronto? I'm getting Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position for my fronts in 235/25/19. My friend is going with Goodyear F1 Eagle AS. Can't go wrong with either one IMO. If you want dedicated summer, I would probably go with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.

I do like the Generals, especially given that they're an all-season and shouldn't turn to a block of solid rubber at low temperatures but as I understand they don't have a rim-protector whatsoever, unless I'm mistaken?
